There was one out on the bases yesterday, and while I didn't see it, from what I can gather I'm pretty sure that it was LaHair spacing out and getting picked off.

he was trying to steal second and left way before the pitcher delivered.

i think he explained post-game he was being distracted by a fan donning Mizzou gear repeatedly hurling vicious death threats at him

i'll bet tt was sitting behind the 1b dugout and lahair was just trying to run into left field to get away from him

Barney was thrown out trying to get to second on a ball in the dirt.

DeJesus was thrown out trying to steal too.

Last night was poor on the baserunning front (although they did have one play that worked out with the decently aggressive send of Clevenger). Overall, aggressive baserunning has worked for the Cubs so far IMO, but as the weather warms up and offense picks up a little bit they should dial it down somewhat.

My mistake, I missed that when I scanned the play-by-play, and for some reason the box score didn't list it as a CS.

Anyways, aside from Castro(who's been flawless), they haven't been going crazy trying to steal bases(6 non-Castro attempts including the two last night), and they're around the Top 10 in baserunning runs so far, so I have a hard time complaining at this point.

You are already driving the "LaHair Sucks" bandwagon. Can't be the chief of more than one.

One man's "vicious" is another man's "reasonably detailed explanation of the exact manner of death with emphasis on the associated pain, misery, and anguish inflicted."

tt is hiding behind the well-established "it's not a threat, it's a PROMISE" defense

To be serious for a moment, I don't want the whole LaHair bit to be obnoxious for anyone who thinks he's great, so let me reiterate that I hope that LaHair proves me very wrong and that I'm doing my best not to be over the top about him with annoying frequency.

To transition back to managerial decisions, I've really liked what Sveum has done with LaHair so far. He hasn't lifted him too high in the lineup, and he's been very quick to put Baker at 1B against LHP. That will do wonders to keep fans from getting irritated at him for failing in the heart of the order, and to maintain his trade value by protecting him from LHP.

Any thoughts on the crap lineup he threw out there on Sunday against the Cards? I was fairly disappointed (I went to the game) to see DeWitt, Baker, Johnson, and Mather all in the lineup against a righty with an off day the next day. Not to mention the fact that Maholm got the start, so I figured I was in for a crapfest anyway.

It is a bad team with a bad lineup and maybe 1 guy who is a 162 game guy. It's hard to criticize this issue.
