71 through 5 for Demp.

EDIT: And he doesn't have to be concerned about any of that no-hitter business since the leadoff guy singled.

14 pages? Probably would have been the largest game thread of the last 161 games last year.

Remember when random games in May would sometimes go over 100 pages.

How does Strasbourg look?

He looks like a pitcher for the Nationals.

The Cubs have been swinging at early fastballs in the zone to avoid getting behind in the count, and it's actually been working decently. Until this past inning, when Dempster and DeJesus struck out.

All five games are 1-0 right now, with Philadelphia (in Pittsburgh) being the only road team winning.

I wish Detroit wasn't blacked out where I live because I wouldn't mind watching their game.

Verlander went 8 shutout on 2 hits....they just walked Cabrera to get to Fielder after Jackson led off with a triple. Sac fly 2-0. Really good game...

I think I'd like to see a lot of Tigers games this year. Usually try to catch Verlander but I want to see their lineup now. It's sooo slooooow after Jackson but that matters not.

87 MPH meatball to Zimmerman, and he flies out to the wall in left. Zimmerman now hates the wind at Wrigley.

It hasn't worked. They did nothing until the inning they scored. And in that inning Baker took several pitches and drew a walk to move Stewart into scoring position.

And if Dempster didn't squirm out of a couple jams the Cubs would be down 5-1 and by no means would anybody said what they have done "has worked".

All of their hits have been on fastballs in the zone early in the count, so in that sense it's worked better than the alternative.

try the extra innings free preview instead of espn

Still blacked out but other games are going on and I had no idea that this was happening so thanks.

First pitch out for Ramos, 92 pitches through 7 for Demp. Borderline enough that I wouldn't be surprised if Sveum trots him back out for the 8th, since Strasburg is set to lead off.
