goodness gracious, kentucky could not effing miss and iowa state could not hit a 3.

worst case scenario for iowa state...white had breakout game and they lost.

So white has to come back next year right? Did I hear right he can't fly because of his anxiety attacks? That's gonna kill his NBA hopes if it's true.

apparently he jumped up ford's draft board after last night's game (which i think is a little stupid...one good game against kentucky jumps you up a whole round?).

he (as far as i know) flew to every road game this year. for some reason he didn't fly to louisville. of course, the fact that he didn't fly to the tourney game is getting lots of press...he picked a bad time to decide not a fly to a road game. ford said if he didn't have an issue with flying, he'd jump up another 20 spots.

Is Maurice Creek still on scholarship? Is he 'retired' from all the injuries? Will he be back next year?

He's still on scholarship. He's working to return next year and is evidently improving. I'm assuming he'll be back.

If you're asking me if I expect him to ever play and be a factor again, then my answer would be no.

I heard that Mo actually practiced a bit with the team in Portland. The kid has an outstanding work ethic and I don't think all these injuries have crushed his spirit at all. Whether he will be the same player or not, I have no idea. But he is busting his tail to get back to 100%.

Just looking at scholarship situation. I don't want to get into the whole 'Creaning' thing but IU is at 15 or 14 if Roth is gone, right? I actually think Roth is a pretty useful role player but it seems like a lot of IU fans want him gone. Jurkin to prep school if Zeller stays?

Roth is completing his Master's degree this spring so I don't think it is even possible for him to come back nor I do think he intends to come back next season.

There is talk that Christian Watford intends to go pro and that he had that plan in place since before the season. Do I think that would be a wise decision? No, but allegedly Christian and his family are committed to that plan.

Oh, for sure. He seems like a great kid and has worked his behind off to return. You have to admire that. But, realistically, anything he provides on the court for IU from here on out has to be considered unexpected. It's hard for me to forget how painful it was to watch him hobble around trying to play last year -- and now having another injury to rehab from, well, you can place me in the extremely dubious category. Hope I'm wrong, obviously.

As for the answer? I think Watford is going to go to Europe.

Really? I would love to see that. I guess Hollowell would get his minutes?

If nothing else, I figure he could possibly supplant Roth as our "zone buster" from 3 point range.

That would be my guess.

I hope I'm wrong, obviously. Losing Watford would really hurt; it would severely limit IU's frontcourt/size. Hollowell is going to be a very good player -- and has a higher upside than Watford -- but it would obviously be preferable to have a four-year starter (which Watford would be).

And kansas' region is falling apart. Shocking. :banghead:

Meh, Georgetown isn't that great . . . that result is hardly surprising. Kansas still has North Carolina in its region.

Yeah, but the next two round are in St. Louis, right?

I'm assuming this will be like every year and South Florida will make it through the top of that region. Every [expletive] year their region falls apart.

So you'll be cheering for Purdue tonight?

Yes for sure.

Yes, that's a big advantage but it hasn't changed. North Carolina is the only team in that region that if they beat Kansas, it wouldn't qualify as a pretty big surprise. I really don't think there is that much difference between NC State and Georgetown. I also think Purdue has a chance today.

The answer is always cheer for Kansas to lose no matter what, same apllies to Duke unless they are playing Kansas.

Out of curiosity--why the hate for KU? Because of Self? Because you live in KC and are surrounded by KU fans?

Yeah, and what's up with hating Nazis too?

Ever since that shot to beat UK, I have thought Watford would be leaving after this season. I don't think it's a terrible decision by CWat. He'll be a mid-2nd rounder at worst. Whether he stays another year or not, he's not going to improve his draft stock unless he magically becomes 2 inches taller to become a legit 4 or he even more magically gets a lot more athletic and becomes a legit NBA 3. Watford is what he's going to be. A guy who can find a role on a team as a shooter out on the wing or can score the basketball when he has either a size or athleticism mismatch against a smaller 3 or a slower 4.

It won't kill the Hoosiers if Watford leaves, but it will put a ton of pressure on Yogi and Perea to have Zeller-like impacts as freshmen if the team is going to be better than this year's squad.

I don't understand it; they've won like 12 national championships. Respect.

Gottlieb's bracket is in the 7th percentile. He's a fraud (I'm not talking about credit card theft either).

I cannot imagine Perea coming anywhere close to having a Zeller-like impact. He'll help because of his size and ridiculous athleticism, but he's not a high-skill player and will need developing. I'm worried IU fans have too high of expectations for him; he's likely to have some good games and some games where he looks completely hopeless and fouls out.

Obviously, Perea isn't going to be a guy that commands the ball in the post and can get you a score when needed. But I think he can have a huge impact defensively. Zeller's pretty terrible defensively right now. If Perea can take some of the post D duties, that would have a large impact. If not, Perea is still an outstanding leaper and his shotblocking ability would be a welcomed sight for IU fans. If all he does is play D, block shots, rebounds and scores on put backs and finishing on fast breaks, he can still have a Zeller-like impact.
