After thinking about it all day... Patriots select... Zach Brown OLB

Another pick on the D. Yes, he should be going to a team that mainly plays a 4-3, but Pats have been trending that way with their defense. North Carolina did play some 3-4 and Brown was at OLB and did well at that position IMO (from the games I've seen). From what I've seen and read, Brown reminds me of a OLB who is undersized and have similar skill set IMO in Lawrence Timmons (although Timmons play ILB for the Steelers). Von Miller and Thomas Howard are other OLBs who are undersized like Brown and have succeeded in the NFL. He is raw and needs to develop, but the upside is too much to ignore here. Pats can afford to pick someone like him, put him on the bench/special teams for a year or 2, and give him the proper coaching that he needs to succeed.

Chargers need OL help and could use some CB depth. Going with the former as CB depth is better.

Chargers select Kevin Zeitler, OG Wisconsin

The Chargers and rawaction are now on the clock. I PMd him.

Next 3 picks:

50. Bears (Raisin, etc)

51. Eagles (Truffle)

52. Titans (dew, PCP)

Again, if anybody isn't sure they'll be available to make the pick, shoot me a PM with your top 4 choices.

Another one of my potential picks goes away. Raisin and the Bears' war room are now on the clock. I PMd Raisin.

53. Bengals (davell)

For the Bears, I don't really like the WRs on the board (I think I'd wait til the 3rd and hope Marvin Jones is there). The OTs would all be reaches too at this point. I don't know if anyone has taken Peter Konz, but he would be a nice pick if he's there. Other than that, I'd probably reach for a CB, I guess. I like Casey Hayward, Josh Robinson, and Trumaine Johnson is interesting if he doesn't turn into a FS.

Konz was taken late in the first round, I think by the Ravens.

EDIT: Yep, it was Baltimore.

I don't like any of the OL available now either. Any votes on any of these guys? I have no problem with Trumaine Johnson even if he has to move to FS.

Josh Robinson, CB, Central Florida

Juron Criner, WR, Arizona - might be too early for him too

Trumaine Johnson, CB/FS, Montana

Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia

Casey Hayward, CB, Vanderbilt

I'd say my choice is Robinson.

Konz was gone before. I wouldn't want to reach for anybody here, not with this team's many needs. No reason to reach. What's the best RB available? Has anybody good slipped. Any interesting LB available?

I like Lamar Miller at RB but I don't like him any more than the CBs available. Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson if you want to keep adding to the DL.

I think LBs would be a reach, a few were just taken.

I hate to say we need to wait on a WR, but there's no value there. For me, Brandon Thompson is the best value on the board and losing Okoye makes DT a position we could use. Some of the interior O Linemen are intriguing here as well, along with some of the CB's. I like Robinson, but from a pure value, I'd take Thompson.

Take Robinson. He was the fastest cb at the combine I believe

I'd be very skeptical of a DB who vaults up the boards based on the underwear olympics. Wasn't he considered no more than a 3-4th rounder going in?

+1

There's a kid from VT who play CB who IMO should be the other CB option.

I'm surprised Brandon Thompson is still on the board. Mocked him tithe Texans in the first so they aren't starting Shaun Cody anymore.

Thompson is quick, gets a good rush against the pass, and while he doesn't sep as rate from blockers all that well yet, he pushes runners inside at least. He's strong enough to where if he makes a few adjustments, he's a bigtime steal here.

he didnt just edge out the rest, he destroyed them. He's also 5-11 I believe, good size good speed

And I thought he was always considered a 2nd rounder.

A DT makes sense, but the really good ones are gone

Thompson may be BPA here. But I don't know about back-to-back years of DTs in the 2nd round. He's more of a NT though and would put Paea at the 3-technique to backup Melton, which I think is a good thing.

I do like the dynamic element that Robinson would bring (Bears never have CBs with elite speed), but CBs can be had later generally. However, do have to take into account that CB may have to wait til the 4th with WR being the 3rd round pick.

I'd probably go Thompson here and take my chances on a CB falling. The Bears do have 5 experienced guys on the roster, though none has the potential to be much more than adequate.

I can't imagine any good reason to think about what is essentially a random trivia point. Unless you are talking about something like drafting QBs in the first round in back to back seasons, this is largely meaningless.

My point was more about drafting another DT early when the previous year's early DT pick didn't really get a chance to play a full season. I agree though, it's not really a big deal as both can/will see plenty of time on the field. So, yeah my comment was probably a little stupid.

With the FA signings at corner and the loss of Okoye, I agree with your last paragraph.

Thompson is clearly BPA and he has enough votes. He's the pick.

At this point, I think BPA is Kendall Reyes over Thompson. Not saying Thompson is a bad pick though as I like him as well and I agree with a DT would be better than a CB at this pick.

I like Thompson better....best run stuffer in the draft and I think he can be a 3 down DT. Only really issue is he's from Clemson.

I want to give the other half of my war room a little time to respond before making the pick on my own. I'll make the pick tonight either way, though.
