#Cubs announce new patio deck in RF bleachers at Wrigley. Will add 70-foot LED board

Hope there are some renderings soon.

and some more info

Afterwards the Cubs announced a new party deck will be built above the far right field bleachers, a version of the Green Monster seats at Fenway Park, with a 70-feet LED board above the wall for stats. Groups can rent out the section and fans can purchase up to 150 tickets for group outings. The area has recently been sold as individual premier box seats.

The Cubs have announced the addition of the Budweiser Patio to the right field section of the Budweiser Bleachers for the 2012 season. The Budweiser Patio will include LED signage with the capability to display pertinent game information such as pitch count, player pictures and statistics. (January 14, 2012)

I posted this below, but it's, in fact, for 2012.

Title is a little misleading. This could easily be a Ribbon 70-foot wide LED board like on the 1b/3b facade. They cant put up a massive video board and block all the rooftop views over there.

More like I screwed up.

Good call.

Oh well, should be cool either way.

That's how I read it too.

That right field corner has been a mess since the bleacher expansion. I really like the idea of a party patio area out there.

The LED Board... I'll reserve judgement until I see how they plan on pulling it off.

Looks somewhat video-capable to me

Not exactly a jumbotron, but looks cool

RF patio area will not affect wall, home run distance or basket. #Cubs

hmm, i'll reserve judgement until it's actually there. not sure

It could be really cool or really bad. Very profound statement.

Given the implementation of the things done so far, I'd guess it's going to be the former.

The party patio area sort of reminds me of the Monster seats.

I wonder how much additional revenue advertising on this thing would mean.

I really really like this. Is this for next season?

Good way to modernize Wrigley a little without the annoying meatballs bitching.

Actually what am I saying? They will still bitch about this.

Hope it can provide some sort of video or have the ability to upgrade to a video board.

There's nothing wrong with being skeptical about this kind of thing. It seems good to me, but I just don't want them to change Wrigley too much, to the point where they have all the screens telling you when to get "rowdy" and crap like that.

Not sure. Can something like that conceivably be done in the next 2.5 months, 1.5-2 of them being awful winter months?

I suppose they could work into the beginning of the season, though.

I'm OK with this. Not effecting the ivy or playing field at all. The Under Armor and Toyota Signage was much worse (but not horrible). Actually interested to hear more about the patio deck thing. Wonder if it will be treated like the roof tops inside of Wrigley.

Nice compromise - I like it. That section was an obstructed, overpriced mess anyway.

Keeping the basket in place seems a little silly though.

I like that they kept the basket. It would look silly to have the entire outfield have baskets then just a line for that small area.

It didn't look silly before 1985 - no baskets in either of the corners before the catwalks were replaced with seats.
