According to a BN tweet, Castro took a Kerry Wood BP pitch to the wrist, but he's OK. Good thing too. Otherwise, it would have done a number on the what harm can bringing back Ole Woody on another team friendly deal sentiment.

Yeah no

am I crazy or should random Castro notes go in some other thread than this one? This one is kind of specific and about a completely different topic

Yes. Random notes about ST for example could go in the ST thread. Or the 'can we talk about Castro' thread.

What

He's being funny.

People said "what harm can bringing back Woody do (even though the team doesn't look to contend this year)"

He's saying if Woody broke Castro, that would be "harm." haha

Is there any sort of an updated status on this?

I was pretty much under the assumption it was going to blow over and nothing serious would come of it. But yesterday a friend of mine said a friend of his from law school told him that her firm thinks there's a very strong case AGAINST Starlin. Odd wording, sorry. It seemed far fetched to me, but what do I know?

Nothing new that I'm aware of. Last I thought I read was that it didn't look like there would be any charges filed. I could have been HOPING I read that though.

The only people that would really know anything about the strength of a potential criminal case at this point would be the prosecutor's office/police and Castro's attorney.

Unless the friend of a friend works in a firm with Castro's attorney, she is probably talking about a potential civil case. All in all, that seems more plausible and it seems to fit better with the way that you framed the information. It wouldn't be surprising if Castro's accuser had consulted with a few firms/attorneys about a civil suit by now.

The point is that a civil case shouldn't really have an impact on Castro's status with the Cubs. So, if that is what she was talking about then it is more or less irrelevant to us as fans.

That seems reasonable. I will try to get more info Thursday and see if he has any exact details about what he was referring to.

Although the accuracy of this thread title persists (and always will, I guess), I wouldn't mind seeing it changed to reflect this latest news.
