What the? What was Pittsburgh doing?

Losing to a better team.

316 passing yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, 125 rating,

10 rushes for 50 yards, 1 TD

Did it all without his #1 WR against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Riiiiiiiight. The Steelers played horrid defense and somehow allowed 300+ passing yards to a QB who still can't complete 50% of his passes. I will give Tebow credit that he made some really good deep throws, but he also missed many more passes that even an average NFL QB should make. His stat line looks great, but is a little bit misleading.

It's hard to complain about a QB who threw over 300 yards in his first start in the playoffs in his first year as a starter. Fact is, there is a chance that he develops and makes better throws as he does develop. There are better QB's than him but he does do some positive things.

Any of those positive things are due to bad defense. Even when the defensive unit is really [expletive] good

Here's how Pittsburgh's horrid defense ranked in the regular season:

Points Allowed: 1st

Yards Allowed: 1st

Passing Yards Allowed: 1st

Yards per Pass Attempt: 1st

Rushing Yards Allowed: 8th

Yards per Rush: 9th

Yards per Play: 1st

1st Downs Allowed: 1st

I don't really even care about the Tebow thing, I'm just glad Pittsburgh lost, so no boring repeat Super Bowl.

Tebow is 24, has been a QB his entire life and has been "developing his throwing" as a professional for 2 years with absolutely no change in it from his college days. It's not going to happen.

I don't think it's a stretch that a dude could learn to make better decisions and get better footwork and technique which can improve accuracy. He hasn't even been a QB a full season. You don't think his accuracy could improve?

Plus, he doesn't have a great group of receivers to throw to.

I like how Pittsburgh completely ignored how KC, BUF, CHI etc embarrassed the Denver offense to play "Steelers defense."

Fox was actually letting Tebow throw the ball today, so they're not comparable situations

Yeah. That's not true. He has improved.

Tebow had fewer pass attempts in today's game than any of the games I mentioned.

This is good for a laugh.

Do you think they'll stand a chance against the Jets next week?

i think the thing that amuses me most about the tebow debate is the devoutly Christian people who are huge fans and defenders of him simply because he's overtly Christian.

I find it amusing that others have a problem with people liking a player because they think he's a good person.

Did I say anything false in the post above? Do the Steelers count as a good team for you? Or are we still holding to there being 3 good teams in the NFL?

Can he succeed long-term with a substandard ability to throw? I think that's the real question. He's done it short term. Year 2, year 3 -- much different story.

there are a lot of good people in the nfl. a lot of devout Christians, too. they just don't make a big deal about it or incorporate it into their touchdown celebration.

i'm guessing there were some nice Christian guys on pittsburgh who are quite sad right now.

Well the Steelers are no Oakland, but beating a team with a hobbled quarterback missing a third of its defense doesn't make them a better team.

I understand the hobbled quarterback but I don't think it's fair to discount the game because of injuries on defense. There have been plenty of teams who have had success despite injuries. I'm actually guess it's like that every team who has won playoff games did so with injuries because it's football.
