Chicagobears.com is saying the Bears have 4 interviews coming up:

"..

Here's a closer look at the four candidates who will interview with the Bears:

Phil Emery

Chiefs director of college scouting

Emery first entered the NFL as an area scout with the Bears from 1998-2004. He later served as director of college scouting with the Falcons from 2004-08 before working as a regional scout for Atlanta leading up to the 2009 draft. Emery has spent the past three seasons as Kansas City's director of college scouting.

The Garden City, Mich., native served as director of strength and conditioning services as well as an associate professor at the U.S. Naval Academy from 1991-98. He was responsible for the development, administration and supervision of all strength and conditioning activities for 4,000 Midshipmen.

Jason Licht

Patriots director of pro personnel

Licht is in his 16th NFL season. He re-joined the Patriots personnel department in 2009 after previously spending four seasons (1999-2002) with New England. In 2008, Licht served as a personnel executive for the NFC Champion Cardinals after spending five seasons with the Eagles as vice president of player personnel (2006-07) and assistant director of player personnel (2003-05).

Licht first joined the Patriots personnel department in 1999 as a college scout. In June 2001, he became the team's national scout, responsible for evaluating top college prospects and NFL players. After the Patriots' Super Bowl XXXVI championship in February 2002, Licht was promoted to assistant director of player personnel, a position he held through the 2002 season.

Jimmy Raye

Chargers director of player personnel

Raye oversees the Chargers' pro and college scouting departments and assists on player personnel matters. He joined San Diego in 1996, spending four seasons as a scout from 1996-99 and eight as director of college scouting from 2000-07.

Raye was a wide receiver with the Los Angeles Rams in 1991 and later went to training camp with the Chargers in 1992 and Houston Oilers in 1993. His father, Jimmy Raye II, played for the Eagles in 1969 and spent 34 years as an NFL assistant, most recently with the 49ers in 2010.

Marc Ross

Giants director of college scouting

Ross is in his fifth season as Giants director of college scouting. He joined the organization in 2007 and ran his first draft in 2008.

Ross first worked in the NFL as a public relations intern with the Giants in 1995. He later joined the Eagles personnel department in 1996 before serving as the team's eastern regional scout from 1997-2000, when at age 27 he became the NFL's youngest college scouting director.

While Emery, Licht, Raye and Ross are scheduled for interviews, Bears director of player personnel Tim Ruskell also remains an in-house candidate to replace Angelo. The team has not ruled out additional candidates."

I don't know what to make of any of these

Ross is one of the most ideal candidates. When this search started my top 5 were (in no order) : DeCosta, McKenzie, Ross, Snead, and Lake Dawson.

he seems to be able to identify DE's and WR's (Cruz). out of the four listed, he's the only one I really have an opinion on. The others seem like a whole lotta "meh"

what happened to Snead? did he back out?

Nothing yet with Snead. Guessing he'll get an interview if this round doesn't go well. Don't want the Chiefs or the Pats guy. But the SD guy seems interesting. They have drafted some good talent until the last couple years.

At least there's a list now, so we can dispense with the idea that the Bears aren't doing anything.

Sounds like this would be a major step up for any of these guys.

Well, I never thought they were doing nothing, and with a list this uninspiring it really doesn't do anything to assuage my fears.

Um, you are only going to get a two bit scout to take the job because you have emasculated him thanks to Ted Phillips.

You can still get a quality GM to take the job under a team president, quit obsessing over the freaking president's role. It exists in sports.

You don't get it, the problem is when Ted Phillips "dictates" to whatever GM that Lovie HAS to be his head coach. THat is going to scare off alot of good candidates.

He's not going to dictate that Lovie has to be his head coach forever or anything. He wants Lovie to stay this year. That is not a big deal. If Ted gives Lovie an extension this offseason then it will be a problem, but a GM doesn't have to clean house on day one to get the chance to build the team how he wants. And if Lovie doesn't win next year he'll have the chance to find another coach. Angelo was given the chance to work with the incumbent coach for a couple years, then he hired his own new guy while having a full decade to do what he could with the team. The new GM should expect something similar, a decade to make it work as long as he doesn't tank and an opportunity to hire a new coach if he needs one.

It doesn't make a lot of sense for a new GM to clean house on day one here anyway.

Michael C. Wright @mikecwright

According to an NFL source, Greg Olson, the offensive coordinator for the Buccaneers is interviewing in Chicago TODAY.

Well that's not confusing or anything.

When was that tweet? The trib, Biggs I think, already wrote an article about Olson interviewing for the job this week. Not sure TODAY needed to be emphasized.

Anyway, he was QB coach with the Bears under Jauron, and has been TB's OC. He was around when Freeman emerged as a solid QB, but also around when he regressed into garbage. Overall he ran a pretty horrible offense in his tenure there. He may be qualified, but I think he's a completely uninspring selection.

Yeah, don't know why he would be picked over the guys that have worked with Cutler before if there's even a question. Bates and Fisch at least come from big time offensive roots.

I think "today" was emphasized because it's a surprise that we wouldn't wait until the GM is hired to do this. Should that person have at least some input on the decision, working with Lovie?

It shouldn't be a surprise that they would hire an OC before the GM, as hiring the coaching staff is what the head coach does and the Bears made it very clear Lovie hires his coaches. I see no reason to wait for a GM to be hired to give input.

Mostly because I don't think Lovie is the best guy to be constructing our offensive coaching without much help...

I understand what you're saying, and I certainly don't hate Lovie, but this isn't an ideal situation.

Things rarely are ideal, but a head coach hiring his coordinators is absolutely what everybody should expect.

Former Seahawks offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates won't be considered for the job, according to a league source. The Bears pursued Bates as offensive coordinator before the 2010 season, but he turned the them down to join Pete Carroll in Seattle. His decision apparently rubbed the Bears the wrong way.

Bates, whom the Seahawks fired last January, was Jay Cutler's quarterbacks coach and play-caller with the Broncos in 2008, the year Cutler made the Pro Bowl. The tie between the two appeared to make Bates a natural fit for the Bears, but the relationship between Cutler and Bates has been overstated, according to the source.

I hope that source is Jay Cutler or his fiance because if they passed on him because Lovie was insulted he wouldn't interview last time I'll be pissed. There seems to be an awful lot of inside sources letting the media know how Cutler feels about things, and they often times conflict.

The Bears seem intent on hiring either the OC from Tampa or the OC from Jacksonville, two of the worst GD offenses in the league. This is discouraging.
