Maybe some of you armchair gms should wait till he plays an NFl game before writing him off as a bust?

Some of the guys here have spent a lot of time reading the Walterfootball.com scouting reports. And several others saw a very extensive highlight package on McLellin that told them what they need to know.

you tell em

Or have family live around Boise or family member who are at Boise State telling them what they've seen. (got family in Eastern Oregon who goes to Boise State games and a cousin who's a soph there)

i'm not so disappointed at who we took so much as who we passed on. i know next to nothing about mclellin other than he appears undersized and weak in the haunches. looking at his film, he looks like he has good instincts and is more an instinctual pass-rusher than a physical one. he may be ok, i don't see his ceiling as being very high as a professional, but then again, i don't know much about him.

We have no idea how he's going to do at the next level, so all we can probably judge right now is value. This wasn't like Seattle taking Irving, as I understand it, McClealin wouldn't have made it past GB or New England in the first, so I don't think it was a horrible reach. And last I checked, Ted Thompson knows something or two about the draft. Edited by Theo

14th on Mayock's board, 19th per Scouts Inc, fastest 40 time amongst DE's... A consensus first round pick. Let's give the guy a chance.

What really happened is Emery took sulley's mom out for a nice seafood dinner and never called her again.

Myself, I probably would have taken Mercilus, but on the bright side, we didn't draft Chandler Jones. I mean watch some video of McClellin, and then a guy like Jones, and tell me McClellin isn't more quick and violent off the snap? And the Theriot crap is just nonsense, he isn't just some try hard white guy, he had one of the fast 40's at the combine along with one of the fastest 3 cones and standing jumps. He's got the measurables. Could he be a bust? Sure? But again, let him play a snap first.

after looking him up, he does have size and speed, as big as Perry and Mercilus and faster then both. He has decent sack numbers too. but man this feels like a swing and a miss

Just a complete disaster, really. Emery should probably resign tonight before he can cause further damage.

Draft Hill or the kid from Rutgers in Rnd 2 and all will be forgiven...then again they already traded for Marshall.

I'd be really pumped to get Hill tomorrow.

No way he slips that far. Maybe we trade up?

The problem is that Mckelleleleins numbers were average in a piss poor conference. I think he was more of a early second round pick.

Yes, never mind the huge game he had against Georgia. Or that the fact that dozens of analysts had him as a 1st round pick, or the fact that he was invited to the first day of the draft.

You're perhaps the most negative poster on this board.

I'd venture to say that 95% of Bears fans are up in arms over this draft pick for various reasons. On top of his average sack totals, hes had 3 concussions so far in his career and hes undersized by 20 lbs. He was chosen about 8-10 slots too early. I'm an easily disturbed, jaded Chicago sports fan, big deal.

I'll take the under on that.

There's probably going to be a WR run early tomorrow night. The guys I'd take at 50 would be Hill, Randle, Jeffery, Sanu, and Quick. Fleener won't make it to us either. I like Allen personally, but I'd prefer a WR.

95%? It seems pretty mixed around here. I'm not ecstatic, but it's the first pick by our new GM. He's already acquired Marshall who we've wanted for years and has 6 more picks to make.

Undersized by 20 pounds? That would put him @ 277-280. I can tell you this, outside of Julius Peppers(freak), you will hardly see a defensive end that big in Lovie's scheme. Right around 260 with speed is how they like them.

Guys, he clearly knows his stuff. Not only has he read this kid's stats tonight, but he obviously found an article somewhere about the concussions. Just let the professionals do their work.
