I can't believe him and Angelo still hang their hats on the whole character crap. To me, it shows they aren't even good at it, when you get into a Sam Hurd situation, among others from their regime. So glad they're gone.

I don't think Floyd falls. But if he does, I think the Bears value the depth at WR in this draft and would look to see if someone is in love enough with him to trade up from the 20s for him. Houston and SF would be the most likely teams to have interest. I think that way, the Bears can still get a decent DE (Mercilus, Perry, Branch or Jones), a DT (Reyes or Worthy, who I'm not sure the Bears even have looked at), or since Floyd is on the board at 19, the Bears could take a WR like Wright, Hill, or Randle (who all may be better fits to stretch the field now that Marshall is on the roster) in the 20s and get an extra draft pick.

Trading down because of position depth seems like overthinking things, unless they simply don't have Floyd graded as a top 15 pick. If he's there and u have him graded as a 10-15 pick, you make the pick unless you're just overwhelmed with an offer.

Team will wear the 1940s throwbacks as their third alternate instead of the orange jerseys this year.

Does anyone have a picture of these throwbacks?

They're awesome.

I have a Hester one, myself.

I ordered one of these around x-mas (Cutler) and got a free alumni jersey (a small Olsen away jersey).

Angelo's track record with "characters" really is amazing. Johnson, Hurd, Benson....

Hester or some guy with a good 40 time we draft in the 4th or 5th round can stretch the field. The Bears need more receivers that can get open quickly and actually catch a pass. If Floyd is there, I think the Bears have to take him.

Well the issue is a 4th rounder with a good 40 time is only going to be able to stretch the field. Getting a guy like Wright, Hill or Randle in the first, means you get a WR with pretty good potential than can ALSO stretch the field.

I just think Floyd is head and shoulders above those guys. Hill strikes me as another Ashley Lelie.

He is, but best case scenario for Floyd is to be a WR just like Brandon Marshall. Do the Bears really want that? Granted, having 2 really good WRs is never a bad thing, but when their strengths are the same it may not be maximizing the potential of your roster.

in the super bowl season, olin kreutz broke fred miller's jaw and miller hit kreutz with a barbell........in the head.........while drunk...........at a gun range.

the best team the bears have had in the last 20 years, manned by criminals. yeah, i don't think chemistry is much of a problem, ever.

Yes they want *and need* 2 really good wr's. And I'd argue Floyd is not a cc of Marshall

Having 2 Brandon Marshalls running around in an opponents secondary would be an absolute nightmare for opposing teams.

Interesting full seven round mock draft by NFP's Wes Bunting. Only the first six rounds have been posted so far, I'm guessing round 7 will be up tomorrow or so.

The Bears' first 6 rounds:

Round 1: Whitney Mercilus

Round 2: Kevin Zeitler

Round 3: Dwayne Allen

Round 4: Marvin McNutt

Round 5: Mike Daniels

Round 6: Nigel Bradham

Vontaze Burfict goes in the 6th round to Baltimore.

No way the Bears pick two Hawkeyes, though I'd love McNutt in the 4th. As much as I love Diesel, I'm not sure if I'm crazy about him in the 5th.

99% sure the gun range incident was in 2005

That's pretty decent. I like Nick Perry more than Mercilus. Bigger, faster, stronger. But Mercilus' production along with creation of turnovers is everything Lovie looks for in a DE. He still has AJ Jenkins on the board in the 5th, so I'd go with him over McNutt in the 4th. Nigel Bradham is an absolute steal in the middle of the 6th round. He's a 3-4 round talent.

I thought Bear fans would find this interesting. From an interview with Pat Dye Jr., Dont'a Hightower's agent.

Dye said the teams that have expressed the most interest in Hightower are the Chargers (No. 18), Bears (19), Titans (20) and Steelers (24). He said several teams who pick later with needs at linebackers and are high on him include the Ravens, Patriots and Giants.

ok, last Bears mock of the year:

1. Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois

2. Kevin Zeitler, OG, Wisconsin

3. AJ Jenkins, WR, Illinois

4. Marcus Forston, DT, Miami

5. Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska

6. James Hanna, TE, Oklahoma- fast and underrated TE prospect, an athlete that we can do something with

7. Vontaze Burfict, LB, Arizona State- why take an LB early when we can get Burfict late?

there are some warts with these players, but this is a strong draft for the Bears.
