if not from ben, then from a bevy of eyewitnesses. i'm not sure why you're arguing with me here as you've already said that nothing will happen if this lady's story isn't backed up by somebody, whether he's charged or not. so you already agreed with me.

I'm arguing against your insistence on pretending Roger can't or won't suspend without a conviction, let alone an arrest. He absolutely can, has, and will. This specific case doesn't seem to lend itself to a suspension, based on what we know, but if more facts emerge he could easily do it (if marshall somehow incited the brawl, if Marshall's bodyguard or friend did the punching, etc). There is no need for conviction for Roger Goodell to suspend a player. Most people have said that's kind of crazy, but it's just a fact.

biggs tweeted that it was the Panthers #3 that they traded and their own next year. Not sure if that was ever clarified before.

no it wasnt

I thought I read somewhere on the day the trade was made that it was the Panthers pick and I've been under that assumption since then.

I read multiple people say "were sure which one" but assumed it was that one.

Anyways, I don't know if Marshall really hit that girl or not, but he came across really well in that press conference. That was not the type of person I was expecting at all. I mean I knew he wasn't a thug or anything, but I wasn't expecting someone who was courteous and willing to go deep into his condition, his experience with it and how things have changed since being diagnosed. Like I said before, I would have gotten really annoyed with all the questions, but Marshall seemed to welcome the questions. He also seemed really humble.

I'm not naive enough to buy completely into press conference personality (I remember thinking Milton Bradley came off well in his Cubs PC, but not as good as Marshall), but it certainly leads me to believe he might actually is a really good, but troubled, guy.

The Bears are expected to look into Kamerion Wimbley now that he's been released. But money will be the issue, as with Mario Williams.

Would obviously love to sign him, but not feeling too optimistic about it.

The 24-year-old woman who alleges new Chicago Bear Brandon Marshall punched her in the face in the early hours of Sunday outside a Manhattan night club is a former basketball player at San Diego State University and has retained a high-profile attorney.

Christen Myles is cooperating with detectives and met with her lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein, Thursday at the 10th precinct in Manhattan, according to a statement from Rubenstein.

Myles, originally from Chino, Calif., told the New York Daily News, “my eye still hurts. ... I still have problem with my vision. ... I want him held criminally accountable for what he did to me.”

He was only getting 9Mil/year. That's very doable. Plus, he's still guaranteed 6.5Mil from the Raiders, so he could be pretty cheap for the first year, if you can structure the contract so he only gets 3-4 from the Bears this year.

if he would have taken it to court and been cleared and if he never bought any college kids beer, goodell couldn't have enforced any punishment.

Crazy is crazy, not evil or stupid. And most crazy isn't always or even usually crazy.

It can still ruin your life.

That has nothing to do with the fact that without a conviction Goodell can, has and will suspend players.

i've already conceded that a long time ago, but he absolutely cannot suspend them without an admission of guilt (ie: a settlement) or multiple witness corroboration of an adjacent wrongdoing. although he'd like to suspend him for being in a club at 4 am, he can't, he doesn't have the power.

Bears resigned Craig Steltz.

Figured this was coming, but didn't really want it to. I like what Steltz did at the end of last year, but I think Major Wright needs to be challenged, if not replaced. We know with Wright and Steltz on the roster, Wright will most likely be the one on the field based on his age, draft status, and greater upside in coverage. Even if it was a lateral move, I would have liked fresh blood in here at SS.

yeah, it really should be on a hold evaluation.

Charlie Campbell's l as test mock has the Bears 5 rounds going with Coples, Massie, Givens, Minniefield, and Ladarius Green. That'd be a hell of a draft.

Yeah, that's pretty awesome. Coples is a top 10 talent. Minnifield is a 1st round talent that didn't have as good a year or measure as tall as listed in college. Getting him in the 4th is ridiculous. Green in the 5th is just as ridiculous. To me, those are all top 100 players in this draft (maybe Green in the 110 range). That would be a great draft.
