The Bears announced on Tuesday that all non-club seats at Soldier Field will increase in price for 2012. The new figures will add $2 to $10 per ticket.

That would suck.

Yeah, pass on that.

Yeah, not worth it. I think Floyd and Wright will still be available at 19, and I'd be okay with either one of them. Get a big name free agent receiver to pair up with either one of those guys and the position will be a tremendous upgrade over last year.

Well sure, but I'd be pretty shocked if they threw that much into one position in one offseason. Wouldn't you?

A free agent and a higher draft pick? No, I would not be surprised. It's almost a necessity.

Earl Bennett is the only WR we have that's better than a 4 currently, we NEED to spend a high pick AND get a very solid FA signing as well.

He suggested a top FA though. So, VJax & Floyd for example.

I'd love it, but would be shocked.

I don't understand how one could be shocked when that very story line has been discussed all offseason to date. That's what people are expecting. It would hardly be shocking.

Because it's never happened before with this franchise at the WR position. I don't see how anyone could not be shocked, regardless of storylines. It's one thing to talk about something like that, and quite another for it to actually happen.

In 2005 the Bears signed the biggest FA WR available in Moose, and drafted Mark Bradley 39th overall. That's not that far a stretch from what we are talking about now. And that was back when QB was still unsettled. They have their QB now. They think they have their line mostly settled. They know they desperately need WR help and they lost their most productive WR of the past three years to a potentially career ending injury. It's not shocking, nor should it be shocking. You'd have to have your head in the sand to be shocked by something like that happening.

To me. The most telling statement was when Phillips said we need to catch up to Green Bay talent-wise. We've got an elite QB and he has no one to throw to. Rodgers has weapons galore to chose from each play. Someone's always open. Adding a pair of solid WR's seems like it was almost exactly what he meant, when making that statement.

Moose/Bradley isn't even close to what we're talking about here.

A big name expensive free agent WR and a middle of the 2nd round pick is very close to what we are talking about here. Dont' be fooled by the fact that costs have gone up since 2005. We aren't talking Randy Moss in his prime or any other hall of fame type WR. We are talking about very good, and expensive free agent WR and top draft choices being spent on WR because of a glaring and desperate need for WR.

i would be surprised if we signed a big name FA wide receiver and then drafted a wr before the 4th round.

Me too, but I'd take that up to 3rd round.

I think top notch FA WR = mid round WR

And 2nd tier FA WR = early round WR

yeah, 3rd round is about right, like the second pick in the 3rd.

Any interest in Tolbert from SD? He's a pretty solid short yardage guy and pretty great at pass protection, iirc.

I figure Tolbert is too expensive for us as a backup RB. He's pretty damn good and is a perfect 2 back system guy. Obviously, we CAN afford him, but we should probably just resign Bell, cut Barber, and draft a guy late.

Not at all. I mentioned about a week ago there are 3 positions I would never spend any kind of significant money on....CB was one, but RB is #1. Signing your own guy (Forte) is fine. A reclamation project here or there (Marion Barber, Thomas Jones) is fine. But it's going to take at least 4 years for Tolbert. Even if he doesn't make a lot of money in his next contract, I don't see any reason to pay a guy 3-4Mil/year to do a job a rookie can easily do. Khalil Bell is fine as the #2. I'd draft a RB late (and cut Barber) if the opportunity arises and the Bears have several other positions filled by then. If not, a UDFA or 2 could be the 3rd RB.

Walter's latest mock has us taking Wright in the 1st, Dwayne Allen in the 2nd, Brandon Washington and Cam Jonhnson in the 3rd and Shaun Prater in the 4th. I know some guys will bitch about Wright and Allen because of their slow 40's, but I would love this exact draft for us. If we could replace Wright with Floyd, it'd be perfect, in my opinion.
