The Steelers and Texans have high-tendered both Mike Wallace and Arian Foster.

Meaning we can have one of those players but would have to give up a first round pick. Would you do it for Wallace?

Mike Wallace is a legit top 10 WR who can probably run backwards and beat Bennett in a 40. Giving up our 1st for him would mean we'd almost have to sign Bell or Gaither, if you ask me. There's probably not a good enough OT available in the 2nd we could plug in immediately. In a perfect world, we could grab V-Jax, Stevie, or Manningham, draft OT in the 1st and a WR or TE in the 2nd. But Wallace is the best WR possibly available and he's not peaked yet. If we think all these other guys are going to stay put, this is a legit play for us. Basically, the Bears better know the market.

If the Bears give up a 1st for Wallace, they'd also have to pay Wallace as much if not more than any of those 3 FAs. Meaning, they wouldn't be getting 1 of them AND Wallace AND re-signing Forte. Be a lot easier/cheaper to pay that money to another player AND keep your 1st round pick to use on a WR (Floyd, Wright). But this is definitely an intriguing scenario. The Bears were going to draft Wallace, but wound up trading down and passing him up for the great, Jarron Gilbert. So, the Bears definitely like him. Wallace would allow the Bears to fill another position in the 2nd and then possibly go after a WR in the 3rd. Wallace, Joe Adams, Hester, and Knox if he ever plays for the Bears again would be the fastest WR group in the history of the world.

how on earth can the steelers high tender-mike wallace?

Mike Wallace is currently my absolute favorite receiver. Not sure I'd like it if the Bears gave up a first rounder to get him, but I'm not too sure I'd complain all that loudly, either.

The Steelers are in cap misery. They most likely will re-work Big Ben's contract or Harrison's contract to free up space.

BTW OT Marcus Mcneil will be waived by SD to clear up cap room too.

They are actually probably clearing up cap space to re-sign Jared Gaither though, taking him off the market. I'd take McNeill though. He's injury prone, but can play....same as Gaither, but will cost less. Jason Smith for St Louis is going to get cut this offseason too. Team that signs him would be hoping to catch lightning in a bottle like Okoye, Gholston, and Gaines Adams, but he's a former #2 overall pick.

Yep. So much for sneaking Gaither through. San Diego liked him so much, they can get cheaper at the position and not lose any production at that position and spend the difference somewhere else. Although with AJ and Turner coming back next year, I'm expecting all the home games to be blacked out this year. Fan support will be at an all time low.

Wonder if we're looking at Mario Williams?

Be a waste of time. He's getting franchised if Houston can't work out a deal with him. I think the Bears will look at DE. Cliff Avril would be ideal. But watch out for them to make a run at Robert Mathis on a short term deal.

Everything I've read says Mario is a goner. They've got cap issues, may use the franchise on Arian Foster, but Williams' tender is 21 mill. No chance they franchise him. PFT predicted today Avril would be franchised, by the way.

I'd guess we'd look into it, but after March 8, and that freeing up of $, he's gonna be a Colts target

I hope we take a few fun jabs at the DE position.

The Bears have so many FA options and that additional 3rd round pick certainly helps, that we should be able to fill OT/WR/DE rather easily.

The last updated mock drafts ive seen, have the bulls taking a TE in the 2nd round.

What would the Bulls do with a Tight End?

i'm kind of sold on taking mike adams. walterfootball has jonathan martin falling to 18, though, which is kind of intriguing.

i think i'd take either martin or adams in the first, and wait to see if jeffery falls to the second and try to package that extra third rounder to move up and grab him. even that happens or not, i like zeitler in the third.

in FA, i go hard after vincent jackson and accept nothing less than a #1 receiver.

if it works out, we get:

FA WR- Jackson

OT- Martin/Adams

WR- Jeffery

OG- Zeitler

they fill immediate needs, but this whole thing may be a pipe dream, obviously. best case scenario.
