Was Carlisle red assed already or was that just too juicy a ball not to kick?

He was T'd up a few minutes before that and he was pretty pissed during his interview before the start of the quarter.

Yeah, there were like 3 missed calls in a row on Dallas, then Westbrook got bailed out on a drive. Then a couple possessions later he tomahawked a dunk and the ball bounced right to carlisle. It was a hilarious sequence but Dallas got pretty robbed.

K-Mart signs with the Clippers.

Another disapointment for knicks fans, lovin it. When D12 signs his max with Orlando another 6 years of Knick mediocrity can proceed unviolated.

Ever seen a picture of rick carlisles hairline from when he was getting garbage minutes with the celts in the 80s? You'd be pretty pissed too if you had to go from a thick wavy pompadour to a thomas acquinas looking buzzcut.

I think a normal offseason will do wonders for the Knicks though.

They have no capspace, no draft picks and no backcourt. They have 3 quality starters in the frontcourt but the two main components do not seem to be accretive when paired. They have had plenty of games to gell and havent. I dont think a new coach is going to figure it out either. Amare and Melo only have about 2 more years before they begin to noticably decline.

If you have to gut your roster - by overpaying (true old cba max) and goign all in (chandler, gallo, felton, hill, a million 1rst rounders) for the ability to give melo a true max - to get two great scorers you probably wont be good.

If you have zero depth and no backcourt you will never win more than maybe 1 playoff series.

Even the Heat, who have 2 of the 15 or 20 best players ever playing in their primes together with another perennial all star, didnt get HCA and didnt get a title last year. Though of course I think they will this year.

Miami really wanted him too.

Man that would have been a disaster. If they got another guy worthy of 20-25 playoff minutes and 6 more fouls, it would be almost impossible to contend with them over a 7 gamer.

Paul George went crazy tonight against the Mavs. He's been improving a lot this season and looks like he could be a pretty big star for the Pacers.

Yeah, when people talked about his star potential I was unsure about how he would ever be that good on the offensive end. But he has completely transformed his 3 point shot and is of course crazy athletic. The talk right now is which one would he be better for-the 3 point shootout or the Slam Dunk contest? It's possible the uncertainty might make him left out of both events, but he really should be in one of them.

He's a little bit of a unique player. There are not many almost 6-10 shooting guards that their team puts on the elite point guards of the league in the 4th quarter to slow them down. He still needs to work on his dribbling for him to have any chance of being a superstar, but he is developing fast and of course at 21 years old still has a lot of time to develop.

The Pacers being 16-6 with only 7 home games so far? That's an incredible start for them. Find a way to get past the next 6 of teams with winning records and the schedule really turns easy.

You know Melo is only 6 months older than LeBron and came into the league in the same draft right? He's got at least 4-5 years at peak performance left and then probably another 2-3 years until any decline is particularly noticeable.

he's almost 28 already. he'll probably show decline sooner than that

lebron isn't that young either.

Yeah they are 6 months apart like I said. He's 27 years and 8 months old and LeBron is 27 years and 2 months old.

There's a theory that's gaining traction (ok it's a Bill Simmons theory, but I've it in other places too) that its more about how many miles you have than age. Obviously age is important because your body reaches its physical peak and then declines, but the wear and tear you have on your body breaks a player down and makes their decline steeper. Going by age, I would expect a player to leave their peak years at 31-32. That gives Melo around 4 years left. If you go by minutes played, I am not sure what the baseline is, but if you compare to Kobe, he has played roughly half the minutes Kobe has played in his career. Kobe left his peak years 2 maybe 3 seasons ago, but that still gives Melo 4-5 years at peak performance.
