Apart from thinking that an ASG appearence can give a player a boost (I think the skills challenge and 1rst asg helped rose), as a fan I like to have as many all stars as possible for whatever reason.

Rose did not participate in shootaround, will likely not play tonight, says Thibs.

Also, the Bulls will resign Mike James on a 10-day contract.

Jones said McGrady went to the hospital on Friday night and tests showed the injury wasn't as serious as it's been in the past. "All that structural stuff was good," Jones said. "This is more of a compression injury and basically a bruise around the spine -- not the spinal cord, but the spine itself."

Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady will miss the next two games and be re-evaluated Friday after a recurrence of back spasms. A magnetic resonance imaging Monday revealed no structural damage, the Rockets said.

The National Basketball Association club announced here Monday that an exam of McGrady, who was hospitalized following back spasms during a game on Sunday, showed no structural damage.

Although the Bulls remain optimistic that guard Michael Jordan will be in the starting lineup Friday night in the opener of their best-of-five first- round playoff series against the Heat, there was concern Tuesday as Jordan walked gingerly while watching his teammates work out.

Still bothered by back spasms, Jordan underwent treatment twice Tuesday and has been placed on medication. He left practice through a side door and did not meet with the media.

Yeah McGrady was my first thought when they said Rose was going to a specialist. Rockets fans had a similar feeling that we have with Rose (that it's nothing to be concerned about long term).

However for every McGrady scenario there are at least 20 guys who simply have back spasms that go away.

I did hear something interesting in a Rose interview the other day. He admitted that back spasms were an issue for him in high school, but he hadn't had any issues with his back since then.

They said on the radio this morning that Rose admitted that doctors told him that his back issues might be the result of him compensating for his toe issue.

So Dwight Howard will be able to play with Rose at the ASG, and be coached by Thibs. A little preview of what it'd be like to be a Bull?

Derrick will be in a full bodycast by the all-star game.

Thibs will only play him 25.

I think that the East's best chance to win the game will come from James, Wade and Bosh playing 52 minutes each, and being practiced extra hard in the days leading up. We must use the power of Thibsball for good.

I don't see imb and SouthSideTrolling's angle in this thread? I think 95% of Bulls fans are of the opinion that the Bulls need to error on the side of caution here and give Rose all the time he needs to heal from this. Really all these obnoxious CAPS LOCK posts are just annoying.

You know, I got to thinking after that earlier post if maybe Howard doesn't wanna come here because of Thibs?

And then sure enough, I found an article online referring to a discussion on the Score about that very topic...

It's bleacherreport, but still...

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1061609-tom-thibodeau-is-he-the-reason-dwight-howard-doesnt-want-to-play-for-the-bulls

Dwight Howard is not thrilled with his current leader, Stan Van Gundy.

Kennedy addressed the issues the two have had saying, "Dwight has complained about how long Stan's practices are, how long his shoot arounds are, how Stan is always getting on his players and yelling at them."

Players like tough couches when the team is winning and dislike tough coaches when the team loses. Thibs has been a great coach for us and if Howard wouldnt want to play for him it speaks lowly of Dwight. I understand his frustrations with Van Gundy, who is an idiot, but Thibs is not. I dont believe the quotes from that bleacher report, because Howard (all year) has been getting on his teammates and coaches publically. Also, I believe Dwight is an extremely hard worker and have no idea why he has a problem with a long session or shootaround.

Any player who would stay away from the Bulls because of Thibs is an idiot.

Nah, Rose passed away a few days ago. They just haven't figured out how to break the news. It's a tough press release to have to write.

Michael wouldn't do that.
