Bianchi, 25, is a career .281 hitter with 116 doubles, 31 home runs, 251 RBI and 76 stolen bases in 490 games over six minor league seasons in the Royals organization. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Bianchi was originally selected by the Royals in the second round of the 2005 June Draft.

The Cubs’s 40-man roster now stands at 36 players.

By my count, the roster currently stands at 37.

Not to be hating on Theo on company, but was he really worth a roster spot more than Flaherty?

Wouldn't the more accurate comparison be whoever got protected instead of Flaherty?

who got protected instead of Flaherty? I thought they had multiple open spots.

we should just keep quoting this so everybody is sure to see your horribly indefensible mistake.

My best guess is that they wanted another SS on the 40 man, and they didn't feel Gonzalez was a SS at the MLB level. Because on the surface, I'm not sure why you'd prefer Bianchi to Gonzalez.

my worst fear: That instead of Epstein influencing the Cubs, the Cubs would influence Epstein, seems to be coming true.

Based on?

I can't wait until they actually make a move that we can get excited about.

David DeJesus was kinda cool. I like him.

That signing is still pretty meh to me. I don't hate it, and can see where DeJesus could provide decent value, just don't think he is going to make much of a difference.

DeJesus will be a solid pickup assuming that we make some better moves. Seems like he'll give us the same production Kosuke gave us for less than half the price. However, if the plan is to build a team from within on a 3-5 year plan deJesus becomes kind of pointless at any price unless he has a great year this year and we trade him for a top prospect next winter.

WSR probably thinks they can trade the [expletive] statue of Caray for a top prospect if it can manage to avoid enough pigeon isht. Everything has a shot at a top prospect with this guy.

Ok, not a top prospect but a solid prospect package. It also depends on what you consider a top prospect. I think we could get a top prospect for Soto or Marshall, meaning someone in the back 25 or even 50 of the top 100. Best case scenario for DeJesus unless as the until recently MIA Truffle said has a massive breakout would be someone from the back end of some teams top 10 and a few younger guys.
