USC really hasn't capitalized on Barkley's announcement. Prater is transferring (Northwestern and Wisconsin were mentioned as landing spots), Armond Armstead could follow, and Amir Carlisle is going to ND.

i'm still holding out hope for prater

ESPN puts out the 2012 top 25 (surprised they waited 12 hours). ND has 2, 5, 9, and 11. Better find a QB quick.

Hope Golson is ready

I'm less worried about Golson's readiness than about Kelly's being intelligent enough to play him - or anyone but Rees for that matter.

Right. Golson would have been a heisman candidate if only his coach had been smart enough to play him.

Boy was that a horrific list.

Here's a much better list, that manages to avoid putting half the ACC in the Top 25 or Kansas State in the Top 15.

Is the list better? I don't know. He mentioned how fun ND would be on defense (true) and pointed to LBs, which, out #5, is not an exciting group. It's either lazy or he doesn't know his [expletive] (or both).

Still maybe better than ESPN's list.

Wait, he ranked Notre Dame? Nevermind then.

Right. Golson would have been a heisman candidate if only his coach had been smart enough to play him.

Should this be in green?

Yeah. Golson seems like a good fit for Kelly's offense, but not that good.

He's a true freshman. You honestly think I believe he'd be a heisman candidate? You've been reading too many imb posts.

Of course. If he sucks, ND is fucked for the foreseeable future.

ETA which isn't to say he'll have to be the starter next year. Hendrix could win the job in the spring. But Golson is the great unknown, has the tools for Kelly's offense, and there are rumors of how high the coaches are on him.

Have you seen Tommy Rees play?

That might be a slight exaggeration of my position. At no point have I even alluded to the opinion he should've played this year (and he shouldn't have).

It was intentionally exaggerated. Yes.
