I think voters recognize how uniquely strong the SEC was this year, and voted accordingly.

All the computers have the Big 12 better, and at least one computer says the Big 12 had the best year of any conference in the past 13 years.

Yeah, I had forgotten this game was even happening until I got home from work yesterday. Watched about half of it. Snorefest.

the voters had to put lsu and alabama in the title game, just look how strong the sec west is. lsu and alabama, the two best teams in the country, are in it!

Are people trying to argue that OSU's schedule or resume was better than LSU's?

OK State big wins:

#7 Stanford at neutral site

#13 Baylor at home

#15 Kansas State at home

#16 Oklahoma at home

OK State loss:

6-7 Iowa State on the road

LSU big wins:

#1 Alabama on the road

#4 Oregon at neutral site

#5 Arkansas at home

#17 West Virginia on the road

#19 Georgia at neutral site

#25 Auburn at home

LSU loss:

12-1 Alabama at neutral site

Seems pretty clear to me that LSU should be #2 despite their disaster yesterday.

The rest of the schedule counts too.

But really, the argument is more "Bama should have never been in the title game" than saying OSU definitively should be #2.

Oh, I'm fine with that then.

#1 LSU vs #4 Stanford

#2 Bama vs #3 Oklahoma St

I'm just sayin'.

2010:

#1 Auburn vs #4 Stanford

#2 Oregon vs #3 TCU

2009:

#1 Alabama vs #4 TCU

#2 Texas vs #3 Cincinnati

There are very few years in which a simple 4 team playoff wouldn't work, it seems to me. And Pete Thamel estimated that it would net double in TV money what the BCS's current deal gets.

Uniquely strong?

Uniquely strong, not a single computer rating had them at the top:http://masseyratings.com/cf/compare.htm

The only reason the SEC was given the top two spots in the BCS was because of the voters. So the voters recognized how strong the SEC voting was this year by voting the SEC strong.

ESPN puts out the 2012 top 25 (surprised they waited 12 hours). ND has 2, 5, 9, and 11. Better find a QB quick.

Boy was that a horrific list.

I'll be curious what the conference rankings would be if you just compare the top 5 teams in each league. I don't care about the cellar dwellers.

Implying I'm using circular logic? I'm saying the SEC West is strong because 3 of the top 5 teams in the country are in it, including the top two teams who have dominated the competition outside of each other.

It's circular logic because it only had 3 of the top 5 teams because people voted them that way. It's the textbook definition of circular logic.

People voted them that way for good reason.

Iowa released Coker from his scholarship. If I'm a RB, I don't go anywhere near Iowa. Talk about a cursed position.

USC really hasn't capitalized on Barkley's announcement. Prater is transferring (Northwestern and Wisconsin were mentioned as landing spots), Armond Armstead could follow, and Amir Carlisle is going to ND.

Aren't they effectively clearing spots for lineman (except Armstead, who is a lineman). I figured USC was letting these guys go bc they have only 75 scholarships and need more big bodies.
