"Cutler suffered the injury while helping to prevent a Chargers touchdown on an interception return by San Diego's Antoine Cason. He played the rest of the game and completed 18 of 31 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns, with an interception"

thanks a ton Johnny Knox

Rotoworld:

Both ESPN Chicago and the Chicago Sun Times report that Jay Cutler's fractured right (throwing) thumb may end his season.

Per the Sun Times' Sean Jensen, "there is a fear" that Cutler may not play again this year, but "there will be more tests." ESPN Chicago's Mike Wright is "hearing" that there is "a chance" this could be it for Cutler's 2011 season. Wright also reports that Cutler will require surgery, so this is clearly a more significant thumb break than Ben Roethlisberger's. Caleb Hanie would take over as the Bears' starter, much to Mike Martz's chagrin.

Well that blows.

At least we have a bye the next three weeks.

Yes, the Raiders and the Tebows will be byes without Cutler.

I have a feeling that Hanie won't suck.

Bears of all teams know how to win with subpar QB play. Just gotta hold on to a WC spot.

I kind of wish I still had my xrays from my spiral fracture that left my fingernail pointing at the finger to its left. Yeah, there are lots of different types of finger breaks, and some are a lot worse than others, but if he didn't tear the crap out of the non-bone stuff in his hand, you'd think he'd be back by the playoffs, in a worst-case scenario

well, he did almost beat the packers in the playoffs. the guy has been under pressure before.

he's mobile, he's got a decent arm and he knows the playbook. give him a shot.

Yeah but he was the Bears 3rd string QB coming into the game. How much time do you think the Packers players and coaches had spend studying him before the game? They had no idea what kind of QB he was. I mean maybe he's decent, but its more likely he's not.

The run blocking has not been good the last couple weeks, and teams are going to devote even more resources towards stopping Forte now. He might be able to manage the game ok, but even if he does that well, pur defense has very little room for error if they want to win.

Thankfully the schedule is rather easy. I think next week is a definite loss. We might have a shot against KC, as they are down to their backup as well and seem to be fading. Playing in Denver is going to be tough the way their defense is playing right now and the mystique of Tebow. Seattle should be a win, but then after that you have @GB which is unwinnable unless the Packers come into the game 13-1 and have clinched home field, then go to Minnesota, which is always tough for the Bears to win in (I think only 2 wins in the last 10 years...I know they are horrible but it still bothers me.)

So I got maybe 3-3 to finish the year. The shitty thing is that we have only 2 home games left this year, vs. 4 on the road. Hanie is going to have to step up and win in some tough stadiums (Oakland, Denver, Green Bay, Minnesota) if the Bears have any shot of making the playoffs.

That missed FG by the Redskins in OT is now a killer for us. Here is Dallas's schedule the rest of the year:

-Miami

-@Arizona

-NY Giants

-@ Tampa Bay

-Philadelphia

-@ NY Giants

I think they can go 4-2 or 5-1 with that schedule. If they go 5-1, unless the Giants collapse and go 3-4 the rest of the year to finish behind Dallas and the Bears, making the playoffs is going to be really tough.

they play the giants twice, the eagles, who they lost badly to already, tampa bay, that played well today against the packers and could give them real trouble, miami, who has won their last 3 games and destroyed buffalo today, i mean destroyed. the only easy matchup for them is arizona.

the bears have a much easier schedule

Hanie isn't going to do [expletive]. I really thought we could make a run with Jay, our D and our ST. The dream's over, you guys.

hanie did fine in the packer game. settle down.

sample size

it was a pretty huge game, though. just relax, he could come out and tom brady it for all we know. plus he knows the offense and he has the same escapability as cutler. his arm is fine.
