Cubs Uniforms

I doubt it happens, but I'm curious if Ricketts/Kenney have thought about completely changing the Cubs uniforms to help re-brand the team. I am not really much of a fan of the current uniforms. I don't really have any ideas on what I'd like to see, but I would even be open to changing the color scheme.

 

Anybody else have any ideas/thoughts on uniform changes? Major? Minor?

It's an interesting idea. The Cubs have had very similar jerseys for quite a while, but I don't think the perception is they're so iconic that they can't be changed. I haven't seen any indication they'd consider changing them though. Personally, I think they should go for something of a mashup between Dodgers and Giants. No pinstripes, off-white coloring, blue piping with the same logo. Not too dissimilar to the 1938 jerseys. I don't have strong feelings one way or the other about the road jerseys.

Has there been a time since 1907 where the Cubs abandoned the pinstripes? I would hate losing pinstripes because it's something the Cubs pioneered, and certainly not a bad tradition to keep around. Plus I like the way pinstripes look.

Uniforms are fine as is. No reason to change them. We have bigger things to change or worry about than their uni's.

 

Because you have the ability to make those changes... And, fans should never care about anything other than how good the team is going to be.

Ricketts seems like too much of a "tradition" guy to drastically change the uniform. If anything, I could see him going back to the nameless, number only home jerseys of '90-'92 and '05-'06. I doubt it, though.

Those throwbacks in 08 were so awesome. Just do that with the current logo and the current hat...more or less like TT said.

Probably could do without the stripes on the stirrups, but either way, all white is the way to go.

I worked as a New Era buyer for a major hat retailer about 3 years ago. The rep I worked with heard strong rumblings that the organization wanted to ditch royal blue in favor of navy. But it obviously never moved beyond a rumor, and then the team was sold. Which is good, because I think we have a few too many navy/red professional sports franchises. The only change I would like to see them make is dump the "Cub in C" secondary logo in favor of a return to:
