you know what the worst part is? the lack of respect. well, the rape is the worst part. but the lack of respect is the second worst part.

These Penn State students make me hope that what gets exposed is so bad that even the dumbest, most willfully ignorant of those jerks has no choice but to shut up immediately and hang their heads in shame.

I hope Joe Paterno takes nothing but shame and anguish to his grave after seeing the appalling lack of perspective in his recent comments. [expletive] all of these scum bags. I know I shouldn't be this vindictive because no amount of righteous indignation can take back what happens to those kids, but [expletive], I want heads on stakes. I want legacies, careers and the entire football program burned to dust. I want this to be so exposed, so unarguably horrible that we as sports fans never forget and no coach or person in position to stop something like this from happening will ever repeat Joe Paterno's inexcusable catastrophic mistakes.

After a career of spouting an inexhaustible stream of sanctimonious bull [expletive] that empowered these crimes and warped the perspective of hundreds of thousands of football fans and students, Paterno has earned every bit of the anger that I/we are sending his way.

Dan Connor was suspended back in 2005 for prank calling a "retired member of the Penn State family."

Consequences for the other two players, junior safety Nolan McCready and junior wide receiver Jim Kanuch, have yet to be determined.

I initially read that as "McCreary" and thought there was a lot more coincidence to that story.

Huh...I even looked it up to try to verify my spelling...and found an article with it spelled that way. My bad.

really hope joe posnanski sees the light once he steps out of state college.

One of my favorite writers. I have a hard time seeing his side, but like you say, he's right in the middle of Penn State right now and like others he doesn't seem willing to put much on Paterno.

I finally got through the grand jury thing this morning and I don't know if I've ever felt any more (choose your adjective: disgusted, angry, appalled, dumbfounded, grossed out, whatever) than I did after reading that. Just so ridiculous that people obviously blatantly ignored what was going on. I hope they do get to the complete bottom of the situation and send every last person who had any knowledge of what was going on to jail to get the treatment those kids did (or worse).

So no, I wouldn't say this story has got so far beyond what anyone could every imagine. The story right now is pretty imaginable. All those other guys risking their millions of dollars by pimping out young boys in central Pennsylvania is unimaginable.

This story is reading like a NYT best selling novel. Fiction, mind you. If you list all aspects of what has been mentioned already as background to where we are now, it's only imaginable in a non realistic sort of way. The guy works in an education program for students, is involved in a program that treats underprivileged children, has adopted 6 boys, fostered even more, and then you have the big name faculty at a major university with a cover-up involving 20+ allegations of child rape and even the potential of a few murders along the way and has been ongoing for more than 10 years.

This is just absolutely and amazingly horrible on so many levels.

i'm choosing to believe he's saying all the right things so he can ingratiate himself to the right people in the community so he can write the book that destroys them all

The part about the janitor bothered me. He witnessed Sandusky forcibly restraining and molesting a 8-9 year old child, told his superiors who identified the perpetrator as Sandusky and they all watched him stalking kids in the parking lot. No one went to local police or even the campus police.

I read that part and I'm not sure they thought he was stalking kids. I think he had left with the victim, then came back and drove slowly through the parking lot on a couple of occasions. This was at Penn State, I think.

To me, it seemed more like he figured he'd been seen by the janitor and was trying to find out if anthing was being done (police called in?) that would get him in trouble.

It's effing crazy. It just keeps getting worse and worse. If all this stuff is true the guy was a monster. How could this go on for so long without anyone finding out?

I can't imagine I'd protect even my best friend if he was buggering kids.
