that's when he breaks the news to kenney: the cubs are going to need a new gm. as it turns out, tom was really upset about hendry's latest sixty million dollar signing

END OF THE SEASON

 

ricketts has finalized his list of gm targets. however, he knows that secrecy is key, so he is careful not to tip his hand. just then, tom spotted an underling preparing to call a local reporter to leak the list!

OCTOBER 9

 

the selection process is in full swing, but ricketts has things locked down. no one has any idea what is going on! reporters are forced to go to great lengths in order to come up with anything worth printing

OCTOBER 12

 

theo and tom come to an agreement! everyone is thrilled by the news. what many don't know is that theo insisted upon signing the contract in an unconventional fashion. while a bit showy, everyone present agreed that it was extremely impressive

the only remaining issue was compensation to the red sox. however, given the circumstances, only the most unreasonable front office would be willing to draw the proceedings out

that was a tough break for tom. the proceedings were slow going from the start
