From the Hawk:

I didn't even know the man could speak until I saw him up here five years ago.

WHAT A GREAT LEADER

He definitely left all the dirt out on the field. Never took any of that with him.

Yea, leave out what the Hawk said about him as a teammate and player..

1. Z was never the talent Ryne was as a player. Sure, a lot of us thought he could be, but he wasnt. Ryne gets a pass because he played so damn well for 8-9 YEARS.

It's closer than you think.

Carlos Zambrano: 3.6 bWAR per full season for his career

Ryne Sandberg: 4.1 bWAR per full season for his career

Plus there's this:

Zambrano: 0.5 tQPC*

Sandberg: 2.0 tQPC*

*times quitting per career

I didn't. I mentioned the part about him leaving everything out on the field.

then I have to assume jersey doesn't believe what he posted. but knowing him as a poster, I'm not so sure he doesn't.

It's pretty clear a lot of us don't like him much, but he's obviously exaggerating his points to get a rise out of people.

what? I love jersey 80% of the time. hes a solid poster, except when he posts [expletive].

So you have arguably the greatest second baseman of all time that played for our team, made the HOF, played the game as hard as anyone and yet all you do is blast the guy?

He is easily on the top 10 list of all time Cubs players and you hate this guy? Wow!

You don't have to like a player just because he is good and white. I promise.

Listen... I'm obviously trolling you with some of this stuff, but the following is 100% honest. I never saw any of that and couldn't possibly care less about it.

All I know is the guy has been an [expletive] ever since he retired. The fact that he was a great player doesn't change any of that.

Sammy Sosa is one of the greatest hitters in Cubs history (if not the greatest) and one of the best in the history of baseball. But Sandberg had nothing better to do at his HOF speech than to take a cheap shot at him. What's that about?

Andre Dawson was my favorite Cubs player. Next.

I know. And for that reason you should've realized he was going out of his way to piss certain people off.

Really? REALLY? Sosa was a cheat and was generally disliked by many of his teammates. The boombox incident tells you what his teammates really thought of him.

stop with the "he's white" [expletive]. and who gives a [expletive] about his cheating ex-wife, if anything, that doesnt mark him, it marks her as a slut. oh-btw-he divorced her for a reason.

Sandberg was a great player, and in vast majority of opinions, a really great guy. neither of those things indicate him as a great manager, obviously, but to try and use his off-the-field issues against him in the managerial arguments is [expletive] stupid.

the irrational "Trash Sandberg" [expletive] is stupid, invalid, and just makes you all look like complete morons.

The repeated cuckolding incidents tells you what Sandberg's teammates really thought of him.

The fact that two of his teammates were willing to bang his wife leads me to believe that Sandberg wasn't necessarily loved by his teammates either.

Because all of Sosa's teammates destroyed his boombox.

He's been a raging anus since the day he retired (the real one, not the quitting on the team one), and he gets a humongous pass for the exact sorts of things that Hispanic players get constantly media railroaded for.

You have a very strong emotional attachment to this man.
