What the [expletive]? Who keeps deleting my posts?

Nobody...What's going on?

Part of me is still kinda bummed they didn't hire Kim Ng.

WTF?

The part that loves to see that kind of social progress. The part of me that loves [expletive] unbelievably awesome baseball moves thinks otherwise.

Like an hour ago or so I posted two goofy Bearclaw-related pics/posts. They vanished the first time and I thought it was my connection screwing up, so I posted them again. They definitely showed up in the thread and when I just got back on a few minutes ago I saw they were gone again.

Bearclaw's been modzilla'd.

No need for further attention there.

Also, I wonder what Rawdog's thoughts are on this move. Or the guy who irrationally hates Ryan Dempster. I need to know these things!

Selig tells #RedSox, #Cubs: You're on the clock. Nov. 1 deadline to figure out Theo compensation, or he will step in. bit.ly/n1DSFg

Told that there will no more dialogue between #RedSox and Cubs on Theo compensation until after Tues. press conferences.

The idea was that Epstein and Red Sox assistant GM Ben Cherington would continue to work on the compensation issue, but no further talks are scheduled until after Epstein is introduced Tuesday at Wrigley Field and Cherington is named his successor at Fenway.

If Epstein and Cherington can't settle the issue before Nov. 1, commissioner Bud Selig said Sunday night he would intervene.

"They have until Nov. 1 - Theo and Ben and all the other parties involved," said Selig prior to the start of Game 4 of the World Series. "Hopefully they can get things done. I always encourage clubs to try to get things done between themselves. Somehow, the commissioner has enough things of controversy (to deal with).

"They'll either get it done or they won't. If they don't, then I will."

Have they made public what time Tuesday's presser is, or is that one of the things we'll find out when they make "further information on each club’s media availability for Tuesday" available tomorrow?

If Theo to Chicago is official, we officially have all the leverage in negotiations right?

Only if you trust Selig not to screw us if the RedSox dig in their heels until Nov 1.

I doubt Selig wants to set a precedent of significant compensation for suits.

Individual actions on the field have more to do with a team's chances of success than any "cultural" issues — one reason Ricketts ignored the Red Sox collapse when making Epstein his primary target.

"It shows that's who they wanted, and that's who they got," Dempster said. "That's pretty cool no matter who it is. It's awesome they were passionate about getting him, and I'm sure he (would've been) the No. 1 target for a lot of people.

"The fact that they went out and got him shows they know what they want to do here."

Dempster, a clubhouse leader, has a $14 million option to return that he's likely to exercise. It seems like a no-brainer after one of his worst seasons with the Cubs, but he would like to hear from the new regime that he's wanted beyond 2012 before making a decision.

"Even if it's not doing an extension, it's just knowing that they want me around," he said. "I want to play here forever, and if I stink, then go ahead and fire me. I'm a grown man. I just like playing here, and hopefully I can play here for a long time."

I would like him to decline his option, but if he's willing to stick around after 2012 at a reduced rate because he just loves the Cubs so much, I am ok with that.

Not necessarily because they agreed to a process to determine compensation. Who knows what that process is, but I would think it would have some sort of starting point for both sides comparable to what they were offering when talks broke off last week. I highly doubt the Red Sox would have agreed to this if they knew that they were giving up all their leverage.
