Awesome news! Does this actually mean Theo is now negotiating his own trade though? Is that what this means?

Sounds like it. I'd say he's officially a Cub now, so there's no reason why he wouldn't do the negotiating.

How do you not LOVE Tommy at this point. I could have never even imagined him pulling this off when he bought the team.

Glad I was wrong.

Secondly, if it's Selig deciding the comp, what are you all thinking he's leaning towards, Cubs view or BSox view?

Personally, the obvious answer has to be Cubs because no matter how many times SoSH says Boston had the leverage, the reality is that they had basically none at all.

"The Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs jointly announce this evening that, effective immediately, Theo Epstein has resigned from the Red Sox in order to become the new President of Baseball Operations for the Cubs. The clubs also have reached an agreement regarding a process by which appropriate compensation will be determined for the Red Sox and that issue will be resolved in the near term.

Both the Red Sox and the Cubs intend to hold press events on Tuesday, October 25 during which the Cubs intend to announce Mr. Epstein, and the Red Sox intend to announce his successor as General Manager.

Out of respect for the World Series, both clubs have agreed to forego further comment until Tuesday, the next scheduled non-game day."

So there will be some kind of hearing? Obviously Bud got involved

this is exactly what i said would happen

Trying to remember where I heard this at some point in the last week plus, but I'm pretty sure Selig and most of the owners would rather compensations be minimal for executives leaving for promotions.

so after the rangers win the next 3 games do you think the cubs will have a joint theo/pujols press conference on tuesday?

It's about time!

One of the biggest Cubs moves of my lifetime. Yes, there have been big player acquisitions, but this guy can rebuild the entire organization from the ground up and make us a perennial contender like we should be!

[expletive]. Yes.

I really hope Theo gets Albert.

Albert > Prince

Better hitter, fielder, better body for aging.

Just IMO, I know there are many who view Prince as the better option, and that surely can be argued.

Let's not forget the man who made this happen

Here's to you, Robert Andino!
