It will not fall apart. PromiseRT @KingstonBowen: @thekapman Will there ever be a deal? It's starting to feel like its going to fall apart.

Oh, good. I was worried, but as long as Kaplan promises, I feel better.

So Hoyer is going to continue being SD's GM when FA opens even though his boss told him he could leave bc his assistant is getting his job? And Theo is going to be Boston's GM and the Cubs won't have a FO at all?

Psycho Larry probably finds this hilarious.

I think it's good advice in life to not trust anyone named Larry...i.e. Larry Luccino and Larry from Three's Company

Levine throwing all kinds of water on this.

Also said Cubs can't really hire Hoyer without Epstein in place.

Why not?

See above.

Let's assume for a moment that there's even a 1% chance that Epstein to the Cubs falls apart.

Hoyer's not going to quit his job in San Diego if there's a chance he has to work with someone other than his superbestbuddy.

The Cubs aren't going to hire a new GM if there's even a tiny chance they have to find a new President (who will presumably want some sort of say on the GM front).

The Cubs can not only offer Hoyer a lot more money than the Padres, but give him the kind of payroll that he'd never come close to overe there. I think that for that he'd be willing to wait a year for his buddy to join him and risk the chance that it doesn't happen. And please nobody come back with any Crane kenney related comments. Ricketts has already said that the new GM, whoever it is will have a [expletive] off Crane clause in his contract.

I'm pretty sure if Kenney ever tried to meddle in Theo and Jed's baseball operation, the result would be something like the hospital scene from the movie Knocked Up:

"So don't even try to come into that room, that's my room now. That little area with the Pepsi machine, that's your area. My room, your area, stay in your area, stay out of my room, back... the... [expletive]... off."

Kaplan's new blog entry

While all of us fully expected an announcement on the Cubs hiring of Theo Epstein to be done by now, we have to realize that not everyone moves on the timetable that we would like them to. The latest from the negotiations indicate that the parameters of a deal are in place and have been despite protestations from Boston to the contrary.

Despite denials regarding Boston management being upset with Theo Epstein for leaving to take the Cubs job it appears that is exactly what is going on. The Cubs want something that the Red Sox have and until owner John Henry is ready to make a move, a deal will not be announced unless commissioner Bud Selig intervenes and demands that the two teams finalize an agreement.

There have been no concrete sources who will confirm who the Cubs are sending to Boston but several reports say that no one from the 40-man roster will be in the compensation package.

I like this avenue...

Take a crow bar to Luchino's squat Hispanic neighbor's car. That'll teach him.

We know who Larry from Three's Company is.

I don't think I did actually, but I know I didn't care.

I'm embarrassed for you.

Because I didn't watch Three's Company? Not even a little embarassed about that.
