Steve Buckley of the Herald was just on with Krapman on CSN. Quick summary:

 

Buckley's sources: One says announcement in 24 hrs., the other says "24-48 hrs."

 

Theo is good at finding "players in the weeds" and can rebuild the Cubs. Some big $$$ contracts-Carl Crawford, Lackey are Theo's decisions.

 

Theo did not get along with Lucchino. Many in front office won't miss Theo.

The prospect of Francona coming also as manager and Buckley thinks Theo will look elsewhere. Theo and Francona disagreed alot, in public and out of sight. Bad time to be out of work manager, Buckley thinks Francona will sit out until mid next year, do tv and then listen to opportunities.

Am I getting too overzealous in saying that with the commitment to the farm Ricketts has had, this potential signing of Theo indicating a change in philosophy for the better and the fact that we are in a bigger market, in saying that the Cubs are on the cusp of being one of the best franchises in baseball?
