Ton LaRussa was briefly a Cubs in 1973? WTF? Consider me pro-Brewers in this series.

Yep, for one game, I learned this about 5 or 6 years ago and was surprised my self. Looking at his stats, he scored a run but didn't have an AB, or BB is it looks like he pinch ran.

Ron Roenicke is such a terrible manager. The fact that Milwaukee won 96 games this year with him is beyond me.

We have a left handed CF in Nyjer Morgan.

We have a right handed CF in Carlos Gomez.

Morgan is considered above average, Gomez is considered elite.

So who does he start? Mark Kotsay. Yup. Can't make this up.

First inning he gets doubled off 2nd on a routine fly ball to 2nd. Bottom of the first, Jon Jay hits a little bloop that both Morgan and Gomez catch. Pujols then hits a ball to the warning track that Gomez catches and Morgan has a really good chance at catching it. But Kotsay doesn't and its 2-0 with Carpenter on the mound. I can't believe in the biggest game of the year you could make that stupid of a decision.

I was kind of hoping for some good baseball on a Wednesday night.

Guess not. Thanks for not showing up, Brew Crew :(

Managers just get in the way. Not that it matters, the Cardinals are white hot right now.

4 hits. 3 of them should of been caught. The other was a ground ball up the middle that Gallardo just missed snagging. I hate baseball. I will go into my room and cry now.

Maybe in a baseball world populated primarily by Koyie Hill clones.

Defensively

Gotcha. Problem is, he cant hit his way out of a wet paper bag, and I think that they're intentionally keeping Morgan or T whataver he wants to be called out of the lineup vs. Carpenter to avoid all hell breaking loose.

Anyone else see that first inning coming from the second the ump called the first pitch to Furcal a ball? It that wasn't a strike then...W/e...I hope Milwaukee's lineup lays waste to Carpenter's pitches.

BTW: I [expletive] hate that team but man the makeup of the Cardinals is consistently impressive. Of course this works because they have Pujols and Carpenter, but Pujols ad Carpenter are as tough as it gets too (Has anyone ever heard about Carpenter's routine to maintain his shoulder? NOT human)...And everyone feeds off of that and plays up...It's [expletive] impressive and its something I'd like to see in the Cubs one day soon. Oh and to be posi on the Cubs...I see that kind of makeup in DJ LeMahieu, which is why I'm such a big fan of this future non-superstar but solid something.

No Kotsay is playing because he is "4-11" career against Carpenter.

I hope the Cubs get to a point where they can sign a slightly above average hitting catcher with suspect defense and have him hit 30 homers and throw out speed demons in the playoffs. Amazing.

Nelson Cruz is having a pretty good series.

Also, Karabell and Law are going to have a field day with Valverde getting lit up on tomorrow's Baseball Today.

Ugh. Cards just took a big step towards the World Series.

I'm just going to ignore that this game happened and bask in Theo glory tonight.

One could do this exercise with most anyone in the Cardinals clubhouse. 13th rounder turns into greatest player in history of the game, middle of the road starting pitcher turns into consistent Cy Young threat/superace, etc. Easy to drive yourself crazy if you're not careful.

In a post-Theo world I really could not care any less if the Cardinals win this year's WS.

Wouldn't a post-Theo world be one in which Theo has already come and gone?

No. Theo is the and of the world at all times. There was clearly referring to only this most recent development in the world of Theo.
