Hawks are so streaky. Playing well for awhile, now they've lost 2 of 3 at home in regulation. Hopefully they can turn it around before it becomes a slide. Losing to Edmonton just sucks.

I know it's one game. But losing to the [expletive] Oilers at home just makes one consider -- or re-consider -- what this Blackhawks team really is. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hawks flail in the coming month, falling out of their position as conference leaders in points. crawford has been great in his 5 starts since becoming the starter again. in that span he has a 2.00 GAA and .936 save percentage.

 

emery is pointless. we know his ceiling. he's not going to be an above average goalie long-term. crawford still has a chance to be that guy. he should be given every opportunity to keep the job.

Daniel Carcillo's five-minute boarding penalty and ejection was enough to send the Blackhawks spiraling to a loss on Monday night. As of Tuesday, it has bounced him from the lineup for the foreseeable future.

 

The NHL suspended the winger indefinitely for the hit on the Oilers' Tom Gilbert, pending a hearing with the league's player safety czars.

Yeah I don't think the injury is a factor because the suspension can't start until he is deemed healthy. Though I think that's a funny rule given how mysterious NHL teams can be about injuries.

 

Definitely the past history increased the suspension, probably doubled it.

Right. Obviously the parallel isn't exact, but he's starting to remind me of Z. He talked so much before the season and continues to talk about playing on the right side of that edge. But then he keeps crossing it.

Anybody else a little turned off by the constant harking back to the glory days of the Cup win, highlighted now by the trip to Philly? Kane can't stop talking about his goal, Toews is buying video of the game on his ipad, every time a former teammate comes into town they talk about it. Maybe it's more of a media thing but it seems to me the team is doing a little bit of living in the past.

This is the first trip back to Philly, right? If so, I'll forgive the media for playing it up a little. Now, does that mean the players need to indulge it? Probably not. But if they reel off five straight wins starting tonight, I doubt we'll be talking about this.

 

Just saw the all-star voting results. Ottawa might as well be Siberia as far as I'm concerned, which is to say I know nothing about how they've been playing or these players in particular, but this fan voting stuff seems especially ridiculous this year:
