nobody even tried to fight. nobody did anything. this team is soft as hell. how do you let that go unanswered?

i mean, you don't even have to take a meatball penalty or anything. but holy [expletive], show some balls. if that hit happened in the pens/flyers series, somebody would have been murdered the next shift.

phoenix probably doesn't even respect them. torres does that and the hawks just let it go?

The thing that pisses me off is that every time we tried to fight, we were the only ones that got a penalty. Bollig's penalty after Torres hit and then the scrum at the end of the 2nd where Toews got 2 minutes. It's insane, I'm not saying we should get calls because we're the home team but we certainly shouldnt be hosed like that.

it's because this team doesn't play physical whatsoever, so it's obvious when they're trying to retaliate.

again, a team with any balls whatsoever would have turned up the physical play and intensity when hossa went down. start giving guys little slashes when the refs arent looking. snow the goalie. get in guys faces. do [expletive] SOMETHING. this is playoff hockey. it was like they didn't even care what they just did to their second best player. just a soft team.

you can say what you want about carcillo and i hate him too, but at least that dude would have stood up for his teammate.

Because they know Shanahan will suspend them for 5 games, and let the Yotes players go untouched.

#Blackhawks Dr Terry on #Hossa " we are monitoring him closely at home. We anticipate a full recovery in a timetable yet to be determined.“

i mean, he's done... right? when he left on a stretcher i pretty much assumes he was out for the season.

wow what a terrible goal. even michael leighton thinks that's a bad goal.

torres might as well go back to the team hotel, pack up and head home to phoenix... no way he should play again in this series.

Shanahan will probably use the fact that Hossa drove himself home to say he's not injured and let him off with a fine.

i'll be stunned if there's not a significant suspension. hagelin was suspended for 3 games in part for causing an injury to alfredsson, and it wasn't known at that stage if alfredsson would miss any time besides the rest of that game. hossa already missed most of a playoff game because of the charge. torres has a history of infractions. the replay clearly shows him launching upward, making contact with his feet off the ice, and the head is a primary point of contact. it's a clear suspension. i'm guessing 5 games.

Cool. Thanks doc. Glad to know he's not going to die.

that's an excuse. these guys have been soft for the last 2 seasons.

is there any other team that lets that happen to their second best player in the postseason and doesn't even try to do anything about it?

also because it's the playoffs, each game is really important and it's pretty damn stupid to keep running around trying to hurt the other team and putting your team shorthanded.

They're not a tough team, but Shanahan's message is very clear: if you're a Hawk, you better not do anything out of the ordinary.

yea, because there's no ground between doing stupid things and stepping up the physicality.

Dude, what the hell do you expect after Shaw?

They're trying to, but Hossa is put in the hospital with no penalty, and a key player is suspended for 3 games for trying to AVOID their goalie.

At this point they're just trying to stay on the [expletive] ice.

bollig jumped him shortly after the hit. and got penalized. what would you have them do, try to put doan out of the game? try to hurt torres? the penguins spent all game on sunday trying to toughen up and send a physical message, and the result was 3 power play goals against and 3 players suspended for game 4. maybe they can feel good about standing up for themselves, if you're gonna play that way in the playoffs you might as well call up the local country club and arrange a tee time for next week.

like i said.... there is ground between gooning it up and stepping up the physical play.

the blackhawks weren't even hitting. they didn't even look upset.

i just wish my team showed a little bit of life after something like that happening. the crowd was jacked up after the first goal, and then we just went to sleep and that was that.

i'm more worried about the likely loss of hossa. without hossa, they're better than us.... and they have home ice back.

also who knows what to expect with crawford now. what a brutal goal.

The Hawks did have more hits than Phoenix which is apparently pretty rare, only the 11th time they've done that all year. So it's apparent they were being more physical than they have been most of the year.

The Hawks were outplayed for the majority of the game. This team isn't going to go anywhere this year unless they hit a torrid hot stretch and can control the puck.

Yup, that all sounds very logical but unfortunately logic has not been one of the. Things Shanahan has used to determine punishments so far in the postseason. If it was, Weber would just be returning from his suspension and Shaw would be getting ready to go in Game 4.

I agree that the most likely result by far is a long suspension for Torres but with the way things have gone down the last couple of weeks, I am ready for just about anything to happen, from a lifetime ban to suspending Hossa for utilizing a prop (stretcher) while attempting to sell an apparent injury.

I disagree there certainly alarmingly long stretches where Phoenix was dominating the Hawks but the Hawks had some good stretches as well just not sustained for as long. I'd say it was about 45% Phoenix, 35% Chicago, and 20% neither team had a particular edge at the moment.

i expect them to play with the intensity and physicality that postseason hockey requires... especially when on home ice.

Honestly I would not have minded seeing some Coyote blood in the ice but I'm a lot more pissed at this team looking like a bunch of clowns trying to clear the zone and move the puck.

Correct me if I'm wrong since I haven't been paying as close attention to the playoffs as others, but hasn't Shanahan been deciding some of the suspensions based on the injury the player sustained? Wasn't that part of the reason Weber didn't get suspended for the Zetterberg thing? If that's the case, I'd have to think that Torres is looking at a decent suspension.
