Shootout losses don't really elicit much emotion from me, but that sucks for Emery.

I'll take the point. Hopefully we have a much better effort against STL this time around.

Did the market really warrant giving him a two-year deal at this point?

Maybe they think watching Scott and now Bollig trying to do what he does made him look more valuable. But I don't know about this, unless it was for real cheap.

825k cap hit.

A 4th line of Carcillo/Mayers/Shaw doesn't offend me at all

I think that would be a good 4th line, my fear would be that Q would play Carcillo more on the 2nd or 3rd lines.

The question is more how much will he play in the top 6 because the random line generator does not have a setting for "keep player x on the 4th line where he belongs".

Unlike scott, at least Carcillo can play when he's not being an idiot. I'd put him ahead of Eager in terms of being itching power in the other teams collective jocks.

Wow. Brunette just showed some good hands and a bit of offensive skill. It's only game 71.

And emery sucks. Terrible.

No comments about this game? It's one of the more entertaining 3rd periods I've seen in awhile with the Hawks and Blues skating up and down the ice. Hawks are 3 mins from getting at least a point from a team that destroyed us last week and had their way with us in the 1st period as well.

We complained quite a bit the last 2 years about lackluster effort by the Hawks. Can't do that tonight though. I think they definitely were motivated to get back at the Blues for such a brutal thrashing last week.

Crap, the Hawks had 3-4 GREAT opportunities to score in the last minute of OT but couldnt.

Now we are going to the 2nd consecutive crap shoot. Hopefully fortune favors us tonight.

Yay Hawks win. Nice to get 2 points from the Blues.

5 out of 6 points from the Rangers, Kings and Blues albeit all at home.

Can't believe that Crawford saved the day.

The Hawks are the 6 seed and are 5 points ahead of Phoenix at 7 but 5 points behind Nashville for the 5 seed.

This actually isnt too bad because the Hawks would be matched up with the Pacific winner in the first round (right now Dallas is the most likely, 4 points up on Phoenix, 5 points up on San Jose, 6 up on LA). Dallas currently has just 83 points, 4 less than the Hawks, so they are clearly a beatable team.

The 4 seed and home ice would be really tough (7 points behind Detroit with 11 to play and Det has 2 games in hand), so its looking like the best thing for the Hawks is to stay in that 6 seed. If we went to 5, we'd be playing Detroit or Nashville. If we dropped to 7, we'd be playing Vancouver. We'll have a tough time beating those teams but would probably be favored against Dallas even without home ice.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like effort is a problem, now it's ability.

It was late last week when Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews flashed a grin following his fourth consecutive day of skating and shared his optimism for rejoining the lineup a couple of days later.

On Thursday, Toews was off the ice for the third time in four days, and the optimism has been challenged by worry that the center could be out quite awhile longer.
