I hated when they responded "How do you know?" When asked about the Cubs asking permission for Epstein... Its been on the news for the past couple days! Your precious "Major League Sources" leaked it obviously.

It's just a radio interview guys. Big whoop.

This was the tap dance I expected to hear. I didn't think we'd get any firm answers. Still I did like the uncertainty that they seem to have and it seems more likely that Epstein might join the Cubs than it did yesterday. I wish they would have confirmed giving permission that would have been great news. Hopefully some new news comes out of them today.

You'd think that all sides would want this resolved one way or another reasonably quickly.

I don't think anyone's saying we care what their opinion is as to the ultimate question. But it's interesting to hear that they (Boston fans) are reacting to the tap dance the same way that we (Cubs fans) are. Depending on your biases, you can hear different things - so it's interesting that we all heard the same thing.

I haven't seen much discussion about the quote "If another team wants to interview for a position that's not lateral, we will grant those." (paraphrase)

Seems it could be a hint that the Cubs are offering more than just the GM role.

Yeah. Or if you're a pessimist, it could be a reason why they won't grant it.

But I agree. I think Kenney is going to be out/minimized. Which I don't care about either way, except if it increases the chances of Theo coming.

Pretty sure that was a joke based on a comment from yesterday.

I like you because you write stuff about the Cubs and there isn't enough decent stuff being written about the Cubs, so I'll let you know I was being sarcastic.

I knew about the "big whoop" thing, but I thought the point was sincere (as in, who cares what radio dudes' reactions were (which, generally, I would agree with)). If not, my bust.

i'm honestly thinking a theo-hahn pairing is in our future, with theo as team president (it doesn't make sense to name him "ceo" with ricketts already essentially operating as ceo).

with francona as manager.

I don't think Francona is gonna happen.

But if it does, I refuse to call him Tito. Not happening.

no sir, we don't go for that kind of crap here in chicago, sir.

how did he even get that nickname anyway?

It was apparently his dad's nickname, per the interwebs.

I think that Theo is coming here. First of all, this Theo to the Cubs speculation has been going on for over a month, not just a week. There has been more than enough time for Red Sox brass to put an end to this story and the fact they haven't speaks volumes.

Second of all, if something was going to be worked out, or is/was being worked out, Henry and Lucchino would have declared it to all of Boston this morning. They did not do that.

Sometimes it's what not said rather than what is.
