Is this in the paper or just online? I was under the impression Rosenblogs stuff was all on the website now.

I haven't picked up a Tribune in a while, but I think you're right. He does show up in RedEye.

I can't think of one athlete who's taken more crap since 2004 for no real reason like Carlos Zambrano. He's done a couple of idiotic things since being here, but it has reached the point where he is almost literally ripped for doing anything other than playing baseball.

Aramis Ramirez?

I think I'd prefer the lazy tag to the stupid headcase one.

I wouldn't say people have given Z crap for absolutely no reason, though. I think that's going too far in the other direction.

I think all this indignation might be a tad reactionary. The article seemed too burlesque to be a serious hit piece. Maybe Rosenbloom should get some credit.

The quality and quantity of the criticism in no way fairly matches anything he's done or said.

The point was that, as Andy said, Z has done a couple idiotic things (though he certainly doesn't deserve the crap he gets), but what has Ramirez done? He's been one of the best and most consistent third basemen in the majors for about six years. He had a .900+ OPS each year but one from 2004-2009 (2008, when he only OPSd .898) and had the third highest OPS in the league among 3Bmen over that span.

Really though, Ramirez causes us no problems off the field at all and has been one of the best in the game at his position since we acquired him in 2003. I have no idea why he receives any hate at all.
