Should have traded him when he had the chance.

Didn't fangraphs have his velocity as down this year?

His fastball is down 0.2 mph from last year.

That's probably not significant. Though both are down about 2 mph from his career before.

He's actually managed to lose a little bit every year since 2004. That's probably not good?

Probably not good, but it's difficult to say how bad. He's got both the 2 and 4 seamer to confuse things, and he's clearly using it in a different manner than earlier in his career. His fastball has gone from 77% usage in 2003 to 52% this year, with much of that usage moving to a new pitch classified as a cutter, which has always been thrown around 89-90 mph.

They said on the radio that he left due to lower back stiffness.

My guess: he was pissed that Barney didn't make the play and wanted to go pout.

My guess is that is probably not what happened.

He did look awkward bending for that bunt while running.

Calm down...I was kidding. Pay Hughes also said that both he and Keith saw Z stretching out his lower back in the first inning.

I really prefer Castro in the 1 or 2 spot..What's his average in the 3 spot compared to the top 2? He seems to really press up there in the 3 hole. I didn't see the strike out since I'm at work. Im guessing it was a real bad pitch he swung at?

It was a slider away that look way away, but the pitch track thing had it just outside.

Very nice job by Mateo.

How bad are Doug Davis and the Giants offense if Marcos freaking Mateo is shutting them down over 4 innings?

I like Mateo

ERA under 4 now. Decent K's. I like him too but he needs to miss more bats.
