Hoye was the plate umpire for the 08 home opener, in which he squeezed Lilly on a 2-strike pitch which was immediately followed by Berkman hitting a game winning homer.

I believe we misidentified him as Boyd for most of the game and after that AB decided to resume calling him Boyd out of anger.

2007. And Berkman's homer wasn't the game winner, the Cubs eventually tied it before "Long-ball" Bob Howry screwed it up with a 2r homer to Adam frick'n Everett.

I saw that on SportsCenter. Soto laughing after Guillen kicked his catcher's mask was amazing.

Did the broadcast show a good view on whether or not that ball actually rolled foul? In the highlights I just watched on MLB.com, it was a field level view and it looked like the ball was right on the edge of the plate, but I couldn't tell.

They eventually did a freeze frame of the play, and it looked like part of the ball was on the plate which made it a good call.

Typical Zambrano start. Gives up a few runs, and he completely melts down.

I have a friend who posted on FB in the first inning about how Z was headed for a meltdown. After Guillen was ejected, I responded that if he put an O before the Z and a ZIE afterwards that his status update would still be accurate.

Didn't matter to Drinkin' Bill Melton. Still swore the ball was foul.

I didn't see the game, and I often miss the highlights, but I decided to check on it tonight. CSN had a great angle with Geo highlighted. I don't recall ever seeing an MLB player point and laugh quite like that.
