actually he'd be a bigger bust, since bush was a signability pick forced by ownership and tate was a bonus baby who received twice what bush got.

Is it really fair to compare bonuses from 2004 to 2009?

Agreed, if he never makes it out of the Rookie league. But I think with his athleticism he will at least play a few games in the majors as a defensive replacement.

yes, signing bonuses haven't increased that much... they certainly haven't doubled on average, anyway.

Wow, I can't believe they didn't wait until after the Future's Game. Good for Szczur's playing time though I would think.

I made a similar comment in the thread in Transactions. Later I read that he played in last year's Futures Game. He might actually prefer a taste of the major leagues rather than playing in another Futures Game. I read some speculation that he might be sent back down at the All-Star break if Bourjos doesn't need to go on the DL.

he's not a prospect, but justin germano threw a perfect game for AAA columbus tonight.

jason kipnis was called up by cleveland a couple of days ago and his first hit was a walkoff single last night.

Matt Moore treating AAA like he did AA and A etc...

8 innings 3 hits 13Ks 2 BBs

I was there tonight. Not much to say about it other than he looked just as impressive as his line indicates.

matt moore is continuing to lay waste to the international league... he did allow a pair of runs today to have his ERA shoot up over 1, but he struck out 10 and walked 0 in 6 innings, so he now has 39 K's against 5 BB in 24 IP. for the year he has 170 K's in 126 IP, and just 33 BB.

And again, 6 innings 10 Ks 2 BBs 2 H

And look at what Desmond Jennings is doing in the majors now.

billy hamilton (reds - low A dayton) has 95 stolen bases with 4 games left to play... will be interesting to see if he can get to 100. i also wonder who the last player was to steal 100 bases in a season.

I read on BA it was a Peoria Chief, but I believe it was a Cardinal prospect.
