Goldstein's draft board is up. It's premium BP content but everyone can see his top 5 blurbs.

His top 5 is:

Correa

Giolito

Buxton

Appel

Zimmer

Where does he have Almora, Gausman, Fried and Zunino?

Goldstein on Kyle Zimmer:

5. Kyle Zimmer RHP, San Francisco

Who he is: There are many teams who have Zimmer ahead of Appel on their boards. He has size and extreme athleticism for a pitcher, along with plus command and control of a bigtime fastball that consistently touches the upper 90s while touching 98-99 mph. His curveball is a plus pitch, and while his changeup needs consistency, it has potential. With two dominant offerings in a non-elite conference, he's been able to blow hitters away, and will need to learn how to sequence as a pro.

Draft skinny: Zimmer could go as high as No. 2 overall to Minnesota, and it's hard to see him falling out of the top five picks.

Whaaa? If true, I'm sorry I ever said anything bad about Kyle Zimmer.

The description of his athleticism is completely accurate but the FB velo has been very inconsistent from start to start. One might contend that the dips in velocity was from dead arm and pitching through a hamstring injury.

You know I'm a big fan of athleticism...He's a former SS?

Still hope he goes before 6.

Law has us taking Fried at 6, with Zimmer and Almora on the board. He left Giolito off completely.

Meh.

He also left McCullers off (signability). Law said we'd know much more about Giolito by the end of this week since teams will have met with their medical staffs by then.

According to Gammons(via PSD, didn't hear this myself) Astros will take Appel and Correa won't make it past the Mariners at 3.

Buxton is going to make it to us.

He'll go 2 to Minnesota or 3 to the M's. If this IS the case, I guess the Orioles take one of Gausman or Zimmer and the Royals take the other. Pretty much gives us Zunino, unless we surprise with Giolito.

Almora?

Right now I'm going Correa, any of the three pitchers, then Zunino. But like davell, if Giolito checks out, I want him over everybody. Edited by El Duderino

Nothing wrong with a high-floor, lowish ceiling pick at No. 6.

Of the 25 No. 6 overall picks from 1980 to 2004, only six have produced at least 5 bWAR in the majors. It's not like this is a sure-fire star sort of pick anyway.

Though Bonds was one of them...

I think the FO takes Zunino in that scenario, I think I'd flip a coin.

You think they'd take him over Buxton?

Tim, do we need to be worried if/when Buxton goes off the board before we pick?

May need to worry more if he does slide to us at six and we don't take him.

Don't think it was mentioned, but in Law's blurb on our pick, he says Richie Schaffer is an extreme dark horse but he doesn't see the board falling in a way to make him our pick.

Correa

Buxton

Gio

Gausman

Alamora

Appel

Zimmer

How I feel after reading draft stuff the past few days.

That's how I feel as well. I'd maybe put Zunino in between Appel and Zimmer, however.

He played third base in high school down in San Diego.

The Cubs drafted his younger brother last year but he didn't sign and ended up at USF also.
