Cardinals have retired 16 of the last 17 Cubs batters since Fuku's RBI double. Let's change that....I'm actually watching so give me a win.

Make that 19 of 20, with the only one that reached on an IF hit.

Is it better to have Pujols be the one to beat you rather than Allen Craig or John Jay or whatever scrub up from Memphis is making his MLB debut today, or is it worse?

Shark's lips while watching the homer:

"What? No! There's no [expletive] way"

I was thinking he same thing. How the hell did he hit that pitch that far?

Seriously, why do you pitch anywhere near the zone in that situation especially at 2-0?

I do not support firing a manager halfway into his first season, but are our young guys at risk of learning bad habits at this point? We've seen terrible fundamentals all year. I love Castro but I hated his body language in that last at bat. What was Barney doing playing short?

This is exactly why you intentionally pass, not this unintentional crap. ESPECIALLY at 2-0.

There is a ton of season left to go. WTF?

It was 2 and 1. He painted a fastball at 96 on the black on 2 and 0.

OK, my bad on the count. But why do you go anywhere near the plate there? You put four fingers up and put him on base! Again, WTF?

He made a very good pitch, the best hitter of the last 40 years made a better swing. Maybe the offense shouldn't have quit in the 6th inning.

It was a great swing on a good pitch, granted. But this is why you intentionally pass him. Don't even fool around with it. It's a no-brainer to me.

The decisions made from Quade this season amaze me.

He's been less than great but the problem is Jim Hendry. Always has been, always will be.

No argument from me on that. There's a serious lack of talent, true. But what talent the Cubs do have can't run bases, can't work a count, can't hit a cut off man, can't situational hit, and sure as hell can't stay away from the best hitter in baseball when your object is to put him on base. With Quade, I worry about the young guys becoming stupid baseball players. And that would make them untalented AND stupid.

Rant over.
