Hayden Simpson finally putting together a line worthy of his draft position.

Thru 5, he's allowed 2 hits, 1 unearned run, 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.

Bour with another HR. More impressively, Rhee with 9k with only 1 BB through 4 IP with ER on a solo shot.

Bour's on fire and has been on fire for a long time now. I'm impressed.

I'm in wait and see mode with Rhee, but today is definitely encouraging.

His BB numbers on the season still scare the hell out of me.

Still, encouraging outing today.

Yep, that's why I'm in wait and see mode. One good outing isn't nearly enough. Let's see 4 or 5 more like it and then I'll have hope that he might be regaining his previous form.

Well, if Rhee has 4 or 5 more 10/1 K/BB games, he'd be a top 3 prospect in the system.

Any radar readings on Simpson?

Nope. Fleita said today he takes the guns out of the park when Simpson pitches. Doesn't want him worrying about it.

Not entirely sure what to think about that. The meat head in me thinks that if Simpson is mentally weak enough to let a radar gun bother him that's worrisome.

The Cubs don't want him to start overthrowing and end up hurting his arm. I didn't see anything about Simpson being mentally weak and letting a radar gun bother him.

That's pretty shrewd on Towers' part

Goldstein:

Dae-Eun Rhee, RHP, Cubs (High-A Daytona): 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 10 K. 22-year-old Korea has looked much better in second year after Tommy John surgery; with solid fastball and plus changeup.

That's actually pretty clever and really funny.

Not sure where Goldstein is getting his stuff. But if Rhee's fastball is "solid", that's pretty significant news. I think he was pretty much an 85-88 guy last summer.

That's what I remember. I raised an eyebrow when I read that. Hope he's accurate. Though the meaning of "solid" is open to interpretation.

They don't have to be exactly like it. Just good outings where he isn't getting hit a lot and isn't walking a lot of guys.

Picky, picky... :D
