None of the 2 worst teams in the NBA have won the draft lottery since 2004 (Orlando), and only once since than have one of the 4 worst teams won it (2009 Clippers).

2005 - Bucks (6th worst)

2006 - Raptors (5th worst)

2007 - Blazers (6th worst)

2008 - Bulls (9th worst)

2009 - Clippers (3rd worst)

2010 - Wizards (5th worst)

Since the draft lottery began in 1985, only four teams that actually had the worst record won the lottery (1988 Clippers, 1990 Nets, 2003 Cavs, 2004 Magic).

From a article talking about this years draft. Got to make you feel good if you are one of the players in the draft.

One Western Conference general manager was more succinct in his analysis of this year’s pool of available players.

“It’s horrendous,” he said. “Every year we always talk about how bad the draft is. This year we really mean it.”

Is anyone else wary of Derrick Williams? No handles, can't play PF in the NBA.

He does have the outside shot that most 'tweener 3-4s lack but the rest of his offensive game doesn't translate well to the NBA and he's screwed on defense. He wouldn't be a top 3 pick any other year.

I do think Kyrie Irving is a top 3 guy in most drafts.

Is he a consensus #1 this year? And where might Jimmer go?

Very much so. He seems to be a classic tweener. Wow, is this draft bad. (Though I do think more quality players exist than the conventional wisdom, there's just not much worthy at the top.)

I really put half a thought into that post, my bad.

Obviously we're way away, but I keep hearing that if Minnesota gets the first pick, they're taking Williams cause they're convinced Rubio is coming over.

I think Irving is exponentially a better pro than Williams, so I wouldn't really let Flynn and Rubio talk me into drafting a smaller David West No. 1.

What's the case for Irving over Knight? Irving had a cup of coffee in college and it seems odd that he's so hyped for a guy that's billed as a heady floor general like Chris Paul.

Knight's pretty damn good. Good size, apparently a good head on his shoudlers, and he can flat out shoot.

poor Cleveland. Lose LBJ, then probably land in the Top 3 of a weak draft.

They could hypothetically land the 1 and 2 pick. At least it would get them something.

I love how Irving plays like 5 games in freshman year and is gonna probably be a top 3 pick.

People used to play in zero games their (nonexistent) freshman year and were picked No. 1 overall.

I heard Knight was one of those weirdo Myron Rolle types that likes to get good grades and has other interests besides basketball.

Yes, he seems like a very good kid. I never understood why exactly he went to Kentucky. That said, seeing as the same seems to hold true for Irving, I fail to see how that's relevant, at all, in any comparison.

Irving is much safer than Knight but Knight probably has more high end upside if he learns how to be an NBA PG. I like Irving a lot more.

Not PGs.

Meaning you gotta be a freakishly athletically wing or a center to be picked #1 overal without playing any college ball.

I don't know a lot about Irving but it seems like he's getting the floor general CP3/DWill type billing...except those guys had a lot of college seasoning and still didn't go #1.

Agreed. I don't think this draft is as bad as has been suggested, there just isn't a good chance of any elite players. Or All-Stars for that matter. There are a lot of rotation guys and useful pieces though. More than I felt safe predicting in a lot of recent years.

I haven't seen anyone put him in that category. The consensus opinion is that he does everything pretty well and is very likely to be very good, but not on the elite level.
