You're acting like Jordan single-handedly won those titles. If he ran out there with Jamario Moon as his #2, he wouldn't have done much either.

So you think if Lebron just practiced more, he'd have a better jump shot?

Why doesn't Geovany Soto hit more HRs??? Must not be a killer.

ETA: You said you don't think Lebron is the best player in the NBA, are you arguing it's Kobe?

Yeah, I'm serious. I think LeBron is overrated. If he wins rings, then I'll change my mind. And maybe I'm more arguing about his place in history, rather than at this very moment. Because I definitely think Kobe of 5 years ago is better than LeBron ever has been.

It reminds me of the arguments I used to have with my friend from LA, MJ vs. Magic. And no matter how I cited stats, he always came back to rings. How MJ didn't have a ring. Well, it pissed me off. But I realized he was onto something. And MJ definitely proved himself over time.

Do you think something changed in Jordan's abilities from 1990 to 1991?

Yes. His ability to be on a team with better players improved a lot.

Edit - Also his ability to have Magic, Bird and Isiah get older and worse.

So I was supposed to be taking the phrase "killer" literally? I thought Jordan's trip to the Congo was strange.

This is completely moronic. Lebron is the best player in the NBA. It's not even close. At all. His championship(s)/ring(s) is coming; it's inevitable. I suspect the first will be this year, though I sure hope not.

Kobe 5 years ago is probably better than LeBron now. But it's close. And yeah, LeBron is easily the best player in the league right now.

your team is down by 1 with 5 seconds to play. Would you rather have LeBron, Wade, Kobe or Dirk take the final shot?

If I have all 4 of those guys on my team why am I down by 1?

If I can only have 1, I'd take the player that leaves me the least likely to be down 1 at the end of the game. (LBJ)

I'd want the ball in Lebron's hands because he's the best player.

Regardless, making an assumption as to your ultimate point, it's misleading and specious. I'd rather have, say, Reggie Miller take a last second shot than, say, Magic Johnson. But Reggie ain't better than Magic.

No Derrick Rose option! FAIL POLL.

Aww booooo, bring back your comment about what score Lebron leaves you with.

I don't know who the best player is. I'm just saying that LeBron has a bad track record with game winning shots, so that leaves his "absolutely the best player" title a bit up in the air.

Wow. What an unpopular opinion I have. :-"

Like I said. Show me the rings. If LeBron gets multiple rings, I'll acknowledge his greatness. Call it unfair if you like. But he teamed up with 2 all-stars and DWade who is probably one of the top 5 players in the league. The NBA has no dominant teams right now. If he doesn't win multiple rings, then there's no excuse. Maybe it will happen. But until it does, he's overrated in my mind.

The thing nobody mentions, though, is that nobody has a better than average track record on game winning shots. It's part of the nature of the shot.

Even if LeBron was more easily recognizable as the best player the previous couple years, he's still the best player this year, with Howard a shade below and Wade a shade below that (and a close cluster of players from 4-11 that also includes Rose, rabid Bulls fans).

Probably Kevin Durant, if we're just talking about putting the ball in the basket.

Looking at rings as an individual achievement in a team sport is pointless and short-sighted, no matter what the team sport is (even baseball, which is as individual as a team sport can be).

Are you talking for their careers or from 1991-1998, 2011 when Derwood's been watching?

Well, I happen to think the same about looking at stats. This is not baseball where its 1 player against the pitcher. It's a team sport. I judge it the contribution the player makes to getting his team to win. I admit the flaws of looking at wins. But looking at the stats isn't perfect either. Look, its one thing if LeBron is playing on a crappy team. He teamed up with 2 all-stars. What's the excuse now? Oh yeah. Spoelstra and the bench. There will always be excuses until he wins, because of his gaudy stats. LeBron supporters will always have an excuse for him because they can't fathom how he's not one of the greatest of all time because the stats say so. But who says the stats are right?

Hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. And this is mine. He might well win multiple championships. I'm not saying he won't. But until then, he's not one of the all-time greats.
