i think the refs let them play for the most part tonight, which is why the bulls were able to pull off such a lopsided victory in the end, i can't assume that it will be like that in the future, though. in fact, i can guarantee that it won't.

yep. This is why they busted their ass for the 1 seed. Hopefully it continues to pay off.

i assume you mean ass for the #1 seed. lol, i was trying to figure out what you were saying here.

edit: [expletive], you edited first. now everyone thinks that i'm crazy if they didn't before.

Don't worry sulley. This didn't make anyone think you're crazy. :-)

And apparently Thibs and Deng huddled before the game to say if they shut Lebron down that they'd just say he missed shots he normally makes.

yeah, i don't recall him getting many good looks at all.

Even against Asik on that that step back jump shot. Lebron drove saw nothing as Asik had the footwork and length and then bailed out for a massive step back dribble jumper. Kerr loved that D and i agreed with him, that showed talent on Asik as go ahead and beat anybody with that shot over and over again.

I love Asik on D. Dude rotates like a mofo and can actually play one-one-one too.

I agree. When I saw Asik switched onto LeBron beyond the 3 point line, I thought the best result of this situation is LeBron missing 1 of 2 from the line. Instead he got a bailout 3, but not because Asik did anything wrong. That was awesome.

The Heat have allowed a playoff opponent to get 19+ offensive boards eight times in their playoff history. Five of those have been the Bulls.

Wonder how many besides tonight have been post-Jordan.

That was the first time post-Jordan. Bulls also improved to 17-5 all time in the playoffs against the Heat.

And 7-4 post Jordan.

meh i guess it's cool to see gibson dunking over one of the nba's top stars, but it's not like wade could really do much about it. it was a 3-on-1 breakout and wade had to stop the guy with the ball first. he didn't have a chance and his options were to get dunked over or move out of the way and let him dunk.

he foolishly went up for the block and gave taj a free throw attempt to go with his dunk

and taj looked like he went up just inside the free throw line, i mean, generally, what happens is the guy gets fouled and misses the dunk and has to earn it from the free throw line. taj completed the dunk on one of the best and most athletic players in the nba, got fouled, and had a three-point play.

make no mistake, wade wasn't in a helpless position, it wasn't a given by any stretch that taj was going to get to the rim.

Wade's response after the game was defiance, saying something like "I havent been drunked on this entire year, so congrats to him. I'll take a 90 to 1 blocks-to-dunked on ratio any day.

He was also seen clapping when the dunk was replayed on the scoreboard.

I don't think it realy mattered who was dunked on, whether it be Wade or some guy like Bibby. That dunk was ridiculous, although I also preferred the second one more.

Wednesday is an extremely important game. If we can leave Chicago up 2-0, we'll be in really good shape.

Game 2 isn't until Wednesday, and Game 3 not until Sunday? Good lord.

Can't play game 2 till Wednesday cuz Oprah has the UC for 2 days. I think the gap between games 2 and 3 is to allow the West to catch up a bit? Not positive though.

Haha, second post in we have this gem:

Chalmers should do a good job on Rose when Wade isn't guarding him because he always seems to play him well since these guys went head to head in that NCAA Championship game in 08'.

Yeah guys, that one game three years ago means he'll keep the MVP in check.

By the time we play game 3, the WCF will have exceeded us in games played. that's odd considering our game 1 tipped off hours after the WCF matchup was finally decided.

The NBA had a contingency plan set up in case the Hawks sent it to game 7. If they had, the Heat/Bulls series would have started Wed-Fri-Sun, but since the Bulls closed out Atlanta in 6, it's now just Sun-Wed-Sun. This also allows the Western finals to catch up.

That Gibson dunk was so sudden, so unexpected, that I flipped my [expletive].

I woke my daughter up yelling at that.

My whole family was asleep upstairs during the 2nd Gibson dunk and I just dropped on the floor and screamed into the carpet. My son had just gone to sleep around the 1st dunk so I just pumped my fist and did some crazy kicking motion that my wife thought was interesting.

Also of note, the Bulls defensive strategy was interesting, basically letting Boozer (or Gibson) deal with Bosh 1 on 1, and keeping everyone else focused on stopping both Wade and James, under the assumption that even if Bosh went off (which he did), Bosh alone wouldn't win them the game.

Is it? Is it of "note?"

I expect them to let Noah neutralize Bosh, and focus on shutting down one of James/Wade as much as possible, banking on one superstar alone not being enough to win.

Boozer and Gibson will guard Bosh, just as they did during the 3 regular season matchups and I suspect, like in the 3 reg season matchups, Thibs will employ his standard defense and challenge the non-basketball mega gods to beat them.

Not that I'm some basketball sage. I just, you know, watch the games and pay attention.

Looked to me like Noah was on Bosh most of the game. Noah got abused, but it was mostly because he was overplaying the passing lane protecting against penetration.

Anytime, I yell and cheer at the Bulls when my 4yo son is awake, even if he's in the other room, he'll yell "Gimme the hot sauce!"

Noah did better on Lebron and Wade in the instances he had to switch to them than he did with Bosh.

I know I have a great hatred for Haslem from the '06 and '07 playoffs, I want to say he clothes-lined Kirk, was there something else or just general thugery?
