Please tell me Young isn't going to get credit for an inside the park HR for that.

I have a feeling I will have watched a whole lot of baseball this year before I see another defensive gaff as bad as that one.

Yeesh!

Can someone explain what happened please?

Young hit a liner into CF. Byrd came in and made a stupid decision to dive for it. He came up empty handed. Soriano had trouble picking up the ball and Young ended up with an inside the park homer.

I'm pretty sure he'd OPS a good 100 points higher over a full-season.

And be between 10 and 20 runs worse in the field.

Doubtful.

DeWitt is a 3rd baseman playing a position higher up on the defensive spectrum and getting awful reviews from all involved.

Barney is a defense-oriented shortstop playing down the defensive spectrum and getting great reviews.

What am I missing?

Hmm that's true, but the fact still remains that Barney should not be on an MLB roster. 100 points of OPS is a pretty shallow estimate.

Really? It was a guy missing a diving catch and then someone else bobbling the ball.

Chris Young hit a line drive to dead center and Byrd dove for it and he missed. Soriano had to come over from left field to retrieve it and he then bobbled the pick up and made a bad throw to the relay man. Chris Young circled the bases. There was absolutely no way Young makes it home if Soriano handles it cleanly.

Hm that's true but I'm still right because I am!

It seems like Dempster is about as good as it gets with the sacrifice bunts. Is there any way to check that?

Well why don't you nominate it for play of the year if you're so proud of it. It was brutal defensive play. I'm sorry you disagree.

Yes, because the only options are thinking it's potentially the worst defensive play I'll see all year or "being proud of it," whatever the [expletive] that means.

When I read "triple and an error" I thought of the seinfeld episode where Kramer needs Paul O'Neill to hit 2 homers to get the card back from little Bobby and Paul O'Neill's 2nd home run is instead ruled as a triple and an error.

Because that's not what I said. I said I will have watched a lot of baseball this year before I see another defensive play that pathetic. I've already watched a lot of baseball this year. Where you came up with ALL YEAR is why you should probably not respond. Reading comprehension can be a good thing.

Miles just tweeted that the first pitch of the Castro AB was the first time this season he has swung the bat without making contact.

You screwed me over again, Costanza.
