Hey guys Derwood's here to talk about things he doesn't know about. Just like the Politics thread, the technology thread, the music thread, the movies thread, the NBA thread, baseball threads, the NFL thread, the potpurri thread, and the milestone post thread.

Most Big Ten championships except 60% of them are from before 1940.

So yes Purdue was king back when they had to pause after every basket to remove the ball from the Peach bucket.

I see. So when is the cut off for "it's recent enough to be relevant"? I'm going to guess right around the time Illinois went to the National Championship game? Anything before that doesn't matter, right? How long do you get to hang your hat on that exactly?

This post is just embarrassing.

I was told "almost every big ten team has been more successful [than Purdue]". I responded by stating that they have the most Big Ten Championships and a winning record against every Big Ten School. Than I'm told (paraphrasing) "that doesn't count". I'm just trying to get the rules right here.

So you tell me, has almost every Big Ten team been more successful than Purdue?

Oh, no. He knows his video games.

Illinois: Deron Williams, Brian Cook

Purdue: Brian Cardinal, JaJuan Johnson, Carl Landry, Brad Miller, E'Twaun Moore

One of those guys is better than the other 6 put together. Who might that be?

Williams got Jerry Sloan fired and is currently the most awesome player on one of the worst teams in the NBA. Sounds like he fits right in with your current crop of STUDS.

Right, if you believe Karl Malone which no one does even the jazz owner. Also Sloan quit wasn't fired. Oh and Deron has been in the playoffs almost every year of his career and won a gold medal. He also has Dwight Howard begging to play with him. But as factual as you DJ Byrd was a four star claim I guess.

That has nothing to do with why your post was embarrassing...which makes this one even more embarrassing.

And yes, in the NCAA Tournament era, which is plenty long enough now, almost every Big Ten team has been more successful than Purdue. Purdue easily clears Penn State, Nebraska and Northwestern, though, so keep that chin up!

The rules are that if a majority of your titles are several years before the shot clock is invented, you can't brag about having the most big ten titles. It's why a lot of stats are qualified as "In the shot clock era". It's barely the same sport without the shot clock. Unless you want to brag about your teams ability to stall.

Maybe Meyers can join him on the all soft team next year.

Yeah Deron wasn't hard enough to play for Purdue. Or he didn't know they had a school cause he was a fan of the tournament. One or the other.

Gary Harris should've informed them that they have a team.

i will point out that minnesota and wisonsin have more postseason success than the purdue juggernaut

And, IIRC, have had far more NBA'ers over the last 20 or so years...

So, we're only judging teams by their NCAA tourney accomplishments? Just making sure I have this right now.

So in the last five years, Purdue's 5 NCAA tourney bids and 7-5 record is better or worse than Illinois' 3 NCAA tourney bids and 1-3 record? Or does this not count either because Weber was the coach?

Let's do ten years for fun. Look we almost tied you with 05 by itself. Lol at you saying we picked an arbitrary starting point to strengthen our arguments.

Ok, so 10 years is the magic cutoff point? Are you sure we can't make it 20 years?
