they are 4-stars as awarded by the Helms Athletic Association

Uh... Illinois' only championship is from Helms as well... now if you want to waive losing in the NC game in our faces, go right ahead....

At least we've been to the final four in the last 30 years.

Congratulations?

I'm sure that will wow people in your coaching search. Might not wow them as much as the fanbase publicly fundraising a coaches contract buyout during a season.

Wait, it bad our fans have the ability to raise money and won't accept mediocrity? Go on...

They also have the ability to come off as spoiled children. Illinois isn't hiring a coach until the off-season at the earliest. How about showing a little class and waiting until it's time...

He is the guy that got you your NC loss that you guys are so proud of.

He's gonna be here until the end of the year, unless he has another press conference wheRe he breaks down. In which case theyre gonna can his ass. That was a complete lack of class.

He coached that team, did a great job of it, but he didn't put that team together either so to many he doesn't get the pass that he would for that year had he built that team himself.

I wonder if our next coach will be an alum who tries to get away from all the student section weirdos until the school gives him a huge raise forcing him to stay.

You're still trying to convince yourself that the student section at Purdue is any different from Illinois or any other group of ridiculous, pastey-white, obnoxious, homers in student sections throughout the country?

You need to come to terms with the fact that this is what you'll see at any college basketball game:

they're very proud of that thing, aren't they?

They are an NBA factory though. In the past 50 years genres Glenn Robinson and .......

Purdue's got a lot more guys in the NBA right now than Illinois...

Way to go. None of them are impact players.

Well, we're no NBA factory like Illinois I guess.

Most Big Ten championships except 60% of them are from before 1940.

So yes Purdue was king back when they had to pause after every basket to remove the ball from the Peach bucket.

I see. So when is the cut off for "it's recent enough to be relevant"? I'm going to guess right around the time Illinois went to the National Championship game? Anything before that doesn't matter, right? How long do you get to hang your hat on that exactly?

We were doing pretty well until a Purdue coach railroaded us back to the Henson probation years. Now we are pretty Purdue like.

This post is just embarrassing.

Yeah the Michigan fan would pick that era for sure. 8-[ Or maybe the 40s is along time ago. Any of those guys still alive?

Illinois: Deron Williams, Brian Cook

Purdue: Brian Cardinal, JaJuan Johnson, Carl Landry, Brad Miller, E'Twaun Moore

One of those guys is better than the other 6 put together. Who might that be?

Off the top of my head with absolutely no research the B1G historically stacks up as follows: IU, MSU, OSU/IL, Mich, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin, Minnesota, everyone else.

There's a clear tier one with IU/MSU, arguments can be made between OSU, IL, and Michigan, and then you've got tier three. Trying to convince yourself Purdue is the best historical program in the Big Ten is total hogwash.

Well that clearly makes Illinois a better school, and you, in turn, a better fan. Case closed

In conference play you can make the argument. In NCAA tournament play, obviously not.

Does he leave this year, or does Weber stick around to coach him up to a late second rounder?

ML will pout his way out of the NBA. At least he'll get paid first though.

Hey guys Derwood's here to talk about things he doesn't know about. Just like the Politics thread, the technology thread, the music thread, the movies thread, the NBA thread, baseball threads, the NFL thread, the potpurri thread, and the milestone post thread.

Look at the scores of the games Purdue played in their 1932 title season to show why bragging about most big ten titles when a majority are before 1940 and the shot clock is stupid:

28-21

26-23

21-28

31-17

34-19

53-18
