I doing live around many cubs fans anymore. You guys are my exposure and my cousin. We all love prior. Do the masses really hate him?

I'm kind of in the same boat. I just assumed everyone loved him.

There's definitely a meatball population out there who would still opine DAT BUM WAS ALWAYS INJURED, HE SHOULDA SUCKED IT UP AND GONE OUT DERE TO PITCH. It may not be a large population, but it's there.

I know a lot of Cub fans, both "meatball" and "intelligent". Not one of them dislikes Mark Prior.

Dusty is an altogether different topic.

Interesting. That article I posted a couple weeks ago sounded like they had sort of hashed some stuff out. But I didn't get the impression prior was totally cool with how baker handled him. Maybe he didn't have other options

It would be so awesome if this was some sort of plot concocted by Prior to get back at Dusty. 7th inning, game 7 of the WS runner on first and third. Reds up 1. In comes Prior to throw the meatiest of meat balls right down the middle.

@LouisvilleBats: The #Reds have released RHP Mark Prior. Prior had been on Louisville's DL since April 25 with a right shoulder strain.

Should probably change the title :(

Mark Prior told Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press Monday that he is "officially retired."

Prior attempted another comeback with the Reds' Triple-A affiliate in 2013 but had to be shut down after encountering more shoulder problems. The 33-year-old is considering joining the Padres in a front office role. Injuries obviously derailed the former phenom's career, as Prior posted a 3.51 ERA with 757 strikeouts over 657 frames but hadn't appeared in the majors since 2006.

Breaking News - The Cubs are the frontrunner for a former ML pitcher with a history of injuries. Stay tuned for future updates. LOL

I wish I had some of his games on DVR or something. He was so fun to watch. Felt like he was a machine.

I would just watch games in 2003 in utter awe of him. He was otherworldly that season.

Can't believe he is 33, now I'm really feeling old.

I'm about 6 months older than Kerry Wood. His retirement made me sad.

I'm starting to think that I'm not going to be a major league baseball player :(
