Good choice and I would be tempted to put Z as the 3 with Garza following Demp but I understand the reasoning that Quade used. Z has been terrible on opening day and he needs some motivation in my opinion.

Demp doesn't have a strong history of game 1's either. ('08 NLDS)

Are you saying that you would actually prefer Zambrano or Garza?

Garza maybe, but I can live with Demp.

No it doesn't matter to me.

Did our manager just make a tough decision and then back it with solid reasoning and have all three players happy with it? What the hell is this? Where is the fishing reference or....whatever it was Lou always did? Why didn't it drag on until the week before opening day?

marshall has pitched 153 games in relief and 16 games as starter in the last 3 years. last year he relieved in 80 games and started none, and was very effective. the whole starter/reliever decision is done.

i dont get why we state that this early.
Beside the fact that it ends speculation, it allows them to plan pitchers' outings accordingly during the cactus league schedule.

I have no problem with this, put the issue to rest and put aside the distraction of Z not getting bombarded by opening day starter questions. I do believe Quade is smarter than most, he commented on really wanting Z against the Brewers @ Miller in the 7th game of the season, i agree with letting Demp hopefully carve up the DBacks and letting Z take on the Crew.

I know it's extremely early but have there been any reports yet on who will be the starting RF? Leadoff hitter? Cashner as a SP or RP?

...

They haven't played a single ST game yet.

I know, but I am getting excited about the season after seeing these pics. Didn't know if there were any quotes from Quade hinting at which way he is leaning.

Quote from Quade: "If he can be a top-line starter and we don't find that out, it would probably be a mistake," manager Mike Quade said. "Maybe he could be a top-end closer, but you weigh one against the other. We just signed a top-end closer (Carlos Marmol) for three years.

I love Mike Quade!
