Carlos Silva says he’s got nothing to prove and that there is one, not two, spots opening in the rotation. In other words, he’s got a job. We’ll flesh out the Nos. 4 and 5 spots in the rotation for the paper tomorrow and online later today. Suffice it to say, things could get interesting.

“For them, it’s open, and for whoever is competing,” Silva said of the 4 and 5 spots. “For me, there’s maybe one spot open because I am one of the starters.”

Sounds like he may become a problem if he doesn't earn a spot in the rotation.

I could see them trading him if it looks like we have better candidates, Id think he'd be appealing to someone even with his contract.

Well there's a guy I haven't seen in a while.

Did Silva and Garza pitch together in Minnesota for awhile? Might be good to have an old buddy in camp for extra inspiration.

Ive been around just not posting, I haven't been excited about the Cubs in a while, which continues to be the case. I'm probably going to watch a lot more games this year.

Eh, this doesn't bother me too much. I'd be disappointed if a guy coming into camp who will make over ten million dollars wasn't over confident. With the results he had last season before his health scares it isn't even that unrealistic. He's confident he'll be good enough to be our 5th starter. He should be.

But if we wind up with six contenders and we trade Silva without eating a lot of cash I won't complain either.
