Jim Edmonds is returning to St. Louis after a three-year absence. The Cardinals announced that they agreed to sign Edmonds to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training

Maybe this is a courtesy contract so he can retire as a cardinal?

It seems those are normally announced as such, but yeah, maybe he technically is being given a shot to win a spot out of ST, but retiring as a Cardinal is the unspoken plan.

This really sucks

Why does it suck? Did you really let 3 months with the Cubs change your thinking of him? He was a douche before he came to the Cubs, a douche as a Cub (that hit a lot of home runs, so thanks for that you douchebag) and is a douche today.

If you liked him because he came to the Cubs to spite the Cardinals, that's even sillier, because he basically just used the Cubs as a pawn in his petty little sissy fight with Larussa. We benefitted from that, so, great.

hopefully he makes the team and gets a lot of playing time, because he's old and stinky now. the cubs drained the last bit of usefulness out of him.

Why the [expletive] would anyone be furious over this?

Because he's going to end up starting in center field for the Cardinals, making the all-star team, and winning another gold glove.

and Ryan Theriot is winning the MVP after hitting 100 HRs and having a OBP .528 whilst playing SS and 2B at the same time by himself.

I can't think of any sports figure that went from most hated to most loved for me ever. That couple of months that Edmonds was a Cub was pretty sweet.

I hope he makes the Cards team because he sucks now.

I'm pretty sure Theriot won't make an out this season.

He hit .276 .342 .504 .846 last year in 272 PA and posted positive UZR in both CF and RF.

I doubt he has much left in the tank, but he certainly didn't suck last year.

That's with him sitting out the whole 2009 season. I don't know how he didn't get signed that offseason after what he did with the Cubs. Had he played in 2009 season, he would have over 400 HRs (need 7 to 400) and seriously become a candidate for the HoF.

He didn't say he sucked last year

I agree that it doesn't suck, but this post is just weird.

He didn't say he sucked last year

That doesn't make any sense.

If I head a gun to your head and made you choose between either "Jim Edmonds is going to suck this year," or "Jim Edmonds isn't going to suck this year," which one would you take?
