Milton Bradley arrested on felony charges

According to King 5 Sports in Seattle, Milton Bradley was arrested on a felony in Los Angeles County.

We're still awaiting more details, but one would think this would finally be enough to void the rest of his contract. The troubled Bradley is still owed $12 million for the 2011 season. Stay tuned for more information as it is made available.

Dammit we should have kept Bradley so we could get the contract voided. Now we still have another year of Silva.

Bradley played this past season for the Texas Rangers, who lost to the San Francisco Giants in the World Series.

Is Bradley still "playing" on the contract he signed with the Cubs?

 

I thought part of the issue with trading him for Silva was that Bradley's contract was done after this past year while Silva still had another year.

according to cot's bradley gets $12 million this year, with the cubs paying $5.5 of that. i think there were certain conditions where 2011 would be a club option year, but i don't think those conditions were met, so 2011 became guaranteed.

It was a 3 year contract, 2009-2011.

Yeah, the conditions were met already in 2009. It didn't take much for 2011 to become guaranteed.

First - I hope the lady is ok

Second - I hope Milton gets some help

 

however, I'm also thinking selfishly and wondering if this could put $5.5M more into the budget for 2011. If so, let's hope for a crazy number of overslots in the draft.

Does Silva have 2 more years on his deal? For some reason, I seem to recall being really irate that Hendry basically added another year of pain to an already really bad contract by adding an extra year of really bad contract just be rid of Bradley.

 

Maybe I was thinking that Bradley's contract could be voided after '10.

Silva's contract had more money in total, including a $2m buyout for next year. But Seattle kicked in more than the differential. But Bradley's voidability for 2011 was gone by the time the deal went down.

The Cubs aren't paying any of Bradley's contract whatsoever at this point. They took on Silva and Seattle is paying 5.5 mill of HIS deal, not the other way around. The only possible way the Cubs could have more money to play with is if Silva were to be deemed unable to play because of his heart condition possibly. Then, MAYBE the Cubs could get the rest of his contract paid by insurance.

 

 

As far as this happening with Milton. Shocker. Never see anything bad coming from him ever. Hope the lady is OK and it'd be nice to see him get some help.

Details finally out..We all knew he has problems..But damn..

 

According to RadarOnline.com, Milton Bradley threw a glass coffee table at his wife during an argument on New Year's Eve while the couple was in New York City.

 

Bradley's wife filed a restraining order against him soon after the incident. "The glass shattered on my head and I started to bleed," Monique Bradley stated in a court-registered filing. "As soon as Milton saw me bleeding, he started crying and begging me to forgive him. He stated that he lost it and that he would kill himself if I left him. I did not know what to do." She is now seeking a divorce.
